Rumbling on the Hard-Right

President Bush is beginning to anger certain hard-line conservatives, particularly over fiscal issues, the way his father did in the year before he lost to Bill Clinton in 1992.

It's not clear how deep the dissatisfaction goes, and whether it will translate to damage at the polls in November.

It is a delusion that the GOP sent PBA to Clinton repeatedly, and he vetoed it repeatedly? (on 4-10-96, and 10-10-97... the House successfully voted to OVERRIDE his veto TWICE, and the Senate BARELY missed doing so TWICE!)

Try reading a newspaper for once. PBA was being pushed by the voters for years before GWB. It is NOT "his" issue. He didn't run on it (care to cite where he even MENTIONED it during his candidacy???), he didn't promote it (until after it was assured of passage in both houses... AGAIN), and he didn't get it pushed into the Houses (for the THIRD time each). Try opening your eyes from time to time while you lick those boots, dolt.

He's done an amazing job for conservatism.

Depending on how conservatism is defined.

"Hold your friends close, but hold your enemies closer." Conservatives should give that some thought when they feel their only option is to just not vote.

Doesn't that imply that electing (holding closer) a liberal (my enemy) isn't a bad thing?

Huh??? Whatever teach stomp your feet, hope you don't have such temper tantrums in front of your students.

Oh BTW, teach, Bush did say during the 2000 campaign that he would sign it, what did Gore say?

I think it is the voters who have done wonders for conservatism. GWB is just getting the credit since he's on top right now. The wave started in earnest in 1994... just two years after Clinton took office. Coincidence?

I promise not to gloat over the upcoming President Bush win on Nov. 2 until Nov. 3...... Okay, maybe just a tad.....

"Congress is your problem, not the President"

Once again, Bush appointed a closeted socialist, Bill Frist, to lead the Senate, for a reason. Frist has proposed legislation that makes him the biggest Rep spender of all time. Mainly to the med sector, the NEA lobby, farmers and AIDS lobby.

"Absolutely false: Taxes. He cut them." And added them to the deficit. Future taxes.

"Federal interest payments as a percentage of GDP on the National Debt is the lowest it's been since 1979. It's 1.7% of GDP. "

******************************************************

Meaningless relativism- socialist tactic. Expected from a vichy Repub like you.

I forgot to mention and more importantly, that the National Debt as a pecentage of GDP was 45.6% in 1960 and it was 34.3% in 2002.

Vichy Repub? LOL! I voted for PJB, that pitchfork guy, back in 92 primaries. I've given to important facts to put your original quote into some kind of realistic context. Your posts and responses are as meaningless as the snot that you are.

Kind of like making the minimum payment on your credit card bill while you keep increasing the amount borrowed. At this rate we should have the National Debt paid off in a thousand years or so. Our grandchildren are going to hate this generation.

No not really. The national Debt as a pecentage of GDP was 45.6% in 1960 and it was 34.3% in 2002.

Be smart, look at the BIG picture!

The BIG picture is something for the suckers to focus on while the con artists slip their hands into our pockets and their knives into our backs.

And history shows that teach317's candidate that she swoons over(whoever that may be) in 2000 won a 50 state landslide.

Sometimes teach, especially with your rhetoric of animus about Bush signing the partial birth abortion ban on this thread makes me think you are a NEA plant, playing the "disgruntled conservative" bit to the hilt, but you play it so over the top, that you have become a comedic characture of yourself.

Read it again... 10-10-98 and 4-10-97... Passed BOTH Houses... Veto Override vote passes the House BOTH times, and the Senate missed the Override by a handful each time. That Override thing... that's 67 Senators required, by the way, not just 50. It was on the radar for most Americans and the majority of elected representatives before GWB came along.

You are right on one count, though... I did just find a reference to GWB supporting PBA during the campaign. Still, that seems to indicate that he was supporting an issue that was already receiving STRONG support in the electorate AND in both Houses of Congress. Again, that does not make it "his" issue.

So "Frist" is Congress? Where are the other 534 member during all of this? Wait, Frist is in the Senate, doesn't a bill need to pass both houses of COngress to go before the President for signature?

You were doing better posting misleading graphs and railing against the capitalist pig in the name of the peasant class than you are calling Senators socialists...

We have lost FReepers in NYC and DC

Barbara Olson, who corresponded with some Freepers was on the plane the islamofascists flew into the Pentagon.

God bless her husband and family. I still miss her being a great voice for conservatives.
