Growing frustration over President Bush's immigration plan and lack of fiscal discipline came to a head behind closed doors at last weekend's Republican retreat in Philadelphia.

House lawmakers, stunned by the intensity of their constituents' displeasure at some of Mr. Bush's key domestic policies, gave his political strategist Karl Rove an earful behind closed doors.

I'm sorry, I disagree.The alleged polling data was run at the behest of the DNC to shore up Clinton's showing . As time passed, moe evidence emerged to indicate tha tthe opposite was true. I recall Limbaugh saying the former in 1993 then as late as 2000 saying the latter. Perot said it best when he dropped out of the 92 race the first time "The Democratic Party now has its act together" Now, maybe I may not a "true" conservative,of the knee jerk drooling John Birch type, but I sure as hell know an endorsement when I hear one. So, your assertion does not stand scrutiny. Oh, an aside, anyone here recall the beating Rush got from the Perotistas, or has tha tbeen shunted aside as well?

Running th GOP out is not an issue with me. Some Independents you could work on a bit, but you are for sure running out Republicans who do not see how they fit into the party right now.

My point is, those people do not need to be run out, but listened to and talked to.

I know for a fact that last night you ran two of them out of here who were listening to a voice of reason. ( Me)

Bush has grossly miscalculated the timing for announcing amnesty and now faces a major uprising within the ranks of the GOP. Rove is getting blamed for it, but Bush went along with it.
