Growing frustration over President Bush's immigration plan and lack of fiscal discipline came to a head behind closed doors at last weekend's Republican retreat in Philadelphia.

House lawmakers, stunned by the intensity of their constituents' displeasure at some of Mr. Bush's key domestic policies, gave his political strategist Karl Rove an earful behind closed doors.

but it isn't really that bad. if you think about it truthfully. You know you don't want a Democrat, so what options do you really ahe. and I don't mean that in the lesser of two evils way. I mean , knowing the political climate these past 15 years.

I am a Conservative I am upset about many things but I really believe that President Bush is our only answer. I thought otherwise for awhile. I changed my mind. I still want to get the message to him that we are upset. I know is doesn't do much good to send the message that you are upset, and we are still going to vote for him. but is sure help lay the foundation for 2008.

There is always a solution though for those who will look for it and work for it. I am not going to give up on President Bush.

More than Rove. Rove does not drive the votes in the House or the Senate for some of W.'s more inane policies.

Plus, he still has a virginal veto pen.

I can't take any of them seriously.

"It just might cost the president the election though and that would NOT " send a message" nor " teach a lesson " to anyone at all!"

If you think about it....that is not true. How could it be true?

I commend you for standing up for the vets. Now take a stand on conservative principles. If we are lucky then Bush will do a turn arround NOW...and we won't have so much dis-pleasure with him come election time and durring the debates. And he better do more than read a pretty speech.

"I FREEPED, alone, long before the was such a thing as FR! I stood up against the yowling hippies and yippies and antiwar protesters who spat on our returning Nam vets, and I stood up against Caesar Chavez's picketing minions...buying grapes, even when I wasn't going to and waving them at the pickets. My credentials are beyond reproach."

In that, we are alike.

Oh so, you didn't mean that you would vote for Bush if he fired Rove after all. I guess you were being dishonest. You now require that Bush’ veto pen gets laid.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree agreeably.

I will vote for W. because I truly fear the alternative.

Neither he nor his advisors/handlers are listening to us conservatives however.

Be under no illusions.

Constitutional principles are all beliefs. In fact, IMO, that is all they are. I happen to agree with those principles. I happen to love those principles. Like many people here I have had family members fight for those principles. The Constitution is a whole bunch of beliefs written down by a group of people a long time ago. Good thing they could work together and get a job done instead of spending their energies on throwing mud and setting up obstalces for themselves.

I am not flaming you, esp. sometimes I feel the same as you do, but I question how concerned you really are, when you leave the deabte at the point of finding common ground with others to solve a problem.
