Be advised. I just lost about four hours worth of work thanks to checking basketball scores at ESPN with Internet Explorer. My very stable Windows 2000 system completly locked up with some window it put up. I did some checking and it appears they know about this and haven't fixed it. (Class action lawyers feel free to contact me!)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't access the site half the time. And I have a cable modem connection. I sometimes am so annoyed with their multimedia over-loaded website that I resort to the
Lite Version for the simplest of tasks..i.e. checking sports scores, etc..

You're right. Sportsline is a lot faster than ESPN.com. I think I'm switching!

I have Win2K loaded up on one box. IE, completely patched, didn't have a problem navigating through 20 links of their site.

I have Windows XP, and the espn.com site froze up on me too. I think it's one of their stupid pop-up ads, which my pop-up blocker didn't catch.

I use XP, but I have never locked up on ESPN.COM. It takes forever to load though, and I never use it just to check scores.

Actually, it may be a pop-up blocker that caused his problem. One never knows.

What's ESPN.com? What's Internet Explorer?

You're telling me about Windows and java not being the best of friends these days. They seem to always be in fight and I lose.

Use
Mozilla and then you'll see how non-compliant the site is (and block pop-ups at the same time!). Then you'll start getting scores from
Sporting News. Also, it might be the latest 'worm' that's going around. MicroSoft released two patches in the last week, I think. Make sure you got 'em. (Not that even that will stop someone who really wants to mess up your machine.)
