Kerry: intern's TV confession
From David Gardner in Washington
femail.co.uk - 16th February 2004
A woman who claims she had an affair with presidential hopeful John Kerry has taped a kiss-and-tell interview with a U.S. TV network, it was revealed last night.
The news is the latest blow to hit John Kerry, the 60-year-old senator who is expected to be George Bush's Democrat challenger for the White House in November.
Former Washington intern Alex Polier, a 24-year-old journalist, is said to have recorded the potentially explosive interview over Christmas.
The network is reportedly sitting on the tape while it carries out its own probe into her claims.
Polier, who works for the Associated Press news agency, is now in Kenya on holiday, allegedly at the behest of married father-of-two Kerry, until the storm blows over.
But an American TV executive said: "She wants to tell her story.
"She is claiming this is a two-year affair. The problem is that no one is believing her."
Dirty tricks
The allegation came just as Mr Kerry appeared to have sidestepped the sex scandal by winning two more decisive poll victories in his bid for the Democratic nomination to challenge Mr Bush.
Last night, Mr Kerry, a father of two whose wife is an heiress to the Heinz food fortune, accused his Republican opponents of dirty tricks.
Speaking at a Democrat dinner, he said: "I promise you that when the Republican smear machine trots out the same old attacks in this election, this is one Democrat who will fight back.
"I've fought for my country my entire life, and I'm not about to back down now."
He added: "Given the record of this administration and their stunning lack of vision, the Republican attack machine may well have no choice but to resort to smear and to fear.
"They can gear up their attack machine, but I'll tell you what: They can't escape the truth. November is coming, George W Bush is going."
Fears
Fears that the affair allegations would damage his push for the White House proved groundless after his easy wins in Nevada and the District of Columbia on Saturday expanded his lead against rivals John Edwards and Howard Dean.
It gave Mr Kerry victories in 14 of the first 16 contests to find a Democratic challenger to Mr Bush.
They also set up a crucial showdown in Wisconsin tomorrow, where both his rivals will make a final stand.
If, as expected, he holds them off, it will seal Mr Kerry's nomination.
Last night, Miss Polier, who spent some time in 1998 doing work experience at the House of Commons, refused to comment at the Nairobi home of her boyfriend's parents.

The network is reportedly sitting on the tape because Kerry is a democrat.

Let me guess. How about Fox.

"The TV News division of ABC?" Peetah Jennings has the story?
We'll never hear it unless Ms. Polier wants to tell it all over again and I don't think she went to Kenya to do that.

She could be worried about Arkancide.

Kerry can say what he likes about the GOP slander machine, because the story came from the Dems themselves. I wish we were into the slime stuff enough to have done the story. It has legs, and I would be willing to bet, MRS.KATCHUP, will send him packing with his pre nup if he doesn't win the nomination. She won't sit still with the story, or the extra woman, or women!! Don't you wonder if she kicked in the extra millions after IOWA??

We all knew that this would end up in the GOP lap. Wesley Clark tells 12 of his reporter chums and cautions them not to say anything and 3 days later it ends up being the GOP?
Some things never change. Wesley Clark appears to be a first class weasel that is fronting for Bill and Hill.
They needed a new S.B. and now they have him.
Imagine becoming a 4 star general and all you will be remebered for is being a manure spreader in a presidential election?

They would probably act the same way when unsubstantiated allegations were made of an affair about his dad:

It's not the affair that I find odd; it's that someone of her background would deliberately seek out publicity. It doesn't fit.
Maybe it's the "nastier" part of the story that drove her to the press.
If it was a simple affair, I wouldn't get this girl coming forward either.
If it is as bad as, lets say, Juanita Broderick, then she might want to come forward to let people know what kind of man is running for President. I would hope I would have the ethics, morals and strength to come forward if the candidate was truly a dangerous or violent man.
Time will tell what "nastier" meant.

The gal was smart to tape the interview before she left the country. Think of it as an insurance policy against anything bad happening to her.

"I've fought for my country my entire life, and I'm not about to back down now."
Which causes a little confusion as to why he is running for the presidency of the US. Afterall, he fought with the VietCong and for VietNam. Why isn't he campaigning for presidency/dictatorship over there, in his own country?

Wonder what network it is.You can bet your next paycheck if it is a US network, the story is already buried deeper than Sadam's WMD and will never see the light of day. OTOH, if they find that W may have missed a NG meeting, that will run for days on end. It's just too bad that the best President we've had in decades must overcome the dirty politics of the left and the American media.

Amen....I also think we are being Rope a Dope-d. NONE of the story makes any sense......she did an interview??? On who's behest?? Kerry's, I'll bet. It's a fake story to PROVE to the sheeple that the Republican Party are witch-hunters and scandal mongers. Also, when REAL ex-girlfriends show up, they won't be believed.
OR...the Clinton's are behind this and the girl is for real. It could fall either way.

If Pres Bush had the exact same thing happen to him, just guess how the media would act... We don't have to guess. Look at the man who gave us a victory in 1994. The man who, against all odds, crafted the Contract With America, and almost singlehandedly stopped Clinton in his tracks.
I speak of none other than resigned Rep. Newt Gingrich.

Something is up, Ms Ketchup face shows it. Yeah, there's something dark there... not merely a second or two of her not being "on" for the cameras. JF'inK better wear a steel codpiece while he sleeps.
