Went to a social function with about 30 of my single Christian friends tonight. Only one other person and me have seen it so far. Most of the others plan on seeing t in the next few days. Tells me that only the surface has been scratched on attendance for this movie.

I saw it today (Friday) at 12:30PM and it was full except for the first 3 rows.

This was at a cinema complex in Westminister, Orange County, California (nicknamed Little Vietnam) an area that is predominately populated by South East Asians most of whom are not Christian.

Looks to me as if the box office is doing just fine.

Oh I almost forgot...never have I seen a finer movie, the story of which I knew the beginning, middle and end in advance. It was stunning.

The Lord asked Solomon what he would wish for, wisdom or wealth. When Solomon chose wisdom he obtain wealth as well.

That's how I see this Mel Gibson project. Gibson opted to produce something of value rather than seek popularity by normal secular methods. I believe God will bless his efforts and see that he is richly rewarded.

This movie will have legs for months IMO. If Gibson brought the movie back for one week each year, he'd make another 50 million dollars each time.

As I've said several other times on the forum, this movie will be cherished by Christians for decades if not centuries.

Each your heart out, liberal left. You could have made a movie like this. Instead you have stooped as low as is humanly possible to turn out the most vile media you could.

May your families be cursed for generations to come, for your evil influence on our society.

Gotta admire Mel's passion, guts and determination. He could become a mogul the size of Lucas off this film.

Do you think they will sell "official TPOC" nativity scene figurines?

Has anyone compiled a list of the top Thursday grosses? Given that this film's Wednesday figure was close to the top, and its Thursday falloff was less, I wonder if it ranks a Thursday top?

Everybody is talking about this movie. (I have seen it. It was awesome). I went to the bank this afternoon. I was standing in line, kind of zoned out, when I heard somebody say "The Passion".

I snapped out of my daze and started listening in on what the people in line were talking about. The people in front of me were talking about "The Passion". The people in back of me were talking about "The Passion". The bank tellers were talking about "The Passion".

They were asking "Have you seen it?" or "What did you think of it" A teen aged girl in the line, told her friend that it was violent, but that she couldn't believe "all that Jesus went through for us"

I don't think there's ever been another movie with reaction like this. This is great. Great for Mel and everyone who made the movie. It is going to be a smash hit .

Good morning, FReepers and Freeperettes! :)
Got to love the success of this film!
For Gibson, it's not a movie, IT IS A MISSION.
Hubby and I see it tomorrow!

"Generally you expect a 60 percent drop on a Thursday, because people who were dying to see it would go on Wednesday, and everyone else tends to wait for the weekend," said Martin Grove, a box-office analyst for the Hollywood Reporter

Yup, that's us. Hubby and I don't have a babysitter and weekdays are busy for us. I am seeing it at noon and hubby is seeing it later in the day at our local theatre(which for our smallish outlying area of Columbus, already has about 7 showings at 930am sold--I'm assuming churches--and the 710 pm is already sold out today)

Great flick! I saw it yesterday and was deeply moved. Those secular Jews that badmouthed this movie should be ashamed of themselves. This was a wonderful movie for both Christians and Jews of strong faith. Rather than push Christians and Jews apart it will bring us together in love of the Lord and life to defeat the secular forces in our country and around the world. Humanity and the Roman army killed Christ. Those of us that know history, know that the Roman army was brutal in putting down what it perceived as insurrection and challenge to its authority. The forces of secular belief must be restrained or they will destroy the world. We can join together and begin the process this November by defeating and destroying the current Godless, secular, "traitor" Democrat Party. Americans, Christians, Jews and all God worshipping people, let us rise up and defend freedom and religious beliefs for all mankind and all religions. John Kerry who has said: "I don't know whether I will see the "Passion" or not, I may not have time" shows where his belief and loyalty lies. I don't not want him, or anyone like him, as the leader of the United States. My friends more than an election is at stake!

The Hollywood groupies tried to pull the same stunt on this film that they did on "Gods and Generals" (a film I greatly enjoyed and one that was falsely accused by some as racist) but this time it did not work.

Of course, no film is for everyone. I did not like "Titanic." However, the personal attacks on Mel Gibson are outrageous. Yet if it weren't for the attacks on the film, IMHO the film would not have drawn this many people.

It is the single most powerful movie ever made. You'll leave the theater weak-kneed and unable to speak.

Hey I am an agnostic but I love seeing the weirdos in Hollywood trying to expalin this

I am have tempted to buy a ticket and not go in ( I had 16 years of Catholic school in the 40s and 50s and don't need to see the picture . All those stations of the cross attendances were enough to get the message out)just to increase the numbers

MY personal take on this was that it would bring in $200-250 Mil domestically and another $200 Mil overseas. I was basing this on what I percieve as a two week run with fairly sharp dropoff after that as I don't see this as a "Repeat business" movie.

That said, I haveheard so many people saying they are going to go see it again that I am hoping my guess is going to be a lowball one.

AS Such, I will revise slightly and say that Domestic & Overseas will top $500 Million. Not the biggest alltime, but well into the top 10.

NOw, DVD sales is a different story. I think the Passion of the Christ will SHATTER all previous DVD and Tape sales.

'PASSION' IS HEADED FOR HOLY $UNDAY ($100 million in its first five days)

If Gallop, and the like, really wants to show some real credibility in their polls, perhaps they should get their statistics strait from the horses mouth.

This time it appears the slant of the press didn't alter the publics decision in seeing what they wanted to see.

A real blessing from God is that it takes the left a boatload of lies to cover up a single truth.. and a whole movie full of them leaves a big old lump in the rug the truth is swept under...

and what movie has ever left you walking out of the theater thinking, "Oh! YEAH!" and did you know HE"S coming back again, for real, and THAT WON'T be a movie !... and if you did'nt get that from the movie you surely have a neighbor somewhere actively anticipating it and being prompted will gladly tell you "THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS STORY"..

Paul Harvey eat your heart out...LoL.. I mean amen..
