Because of the age of the girls, the courts are probably suppressing any further information about them. You are probably right, it is highly likely that the girls were white aussie infidels.

To be honest, it wouldn't really matter that much to me if they were 16 & 17 year old Muslim girls, these guys are still scum and should be locked up for good.

Yes, they make it very difficult to convict. I merely suggest that Australia, in deference to the "culture," meet these defendants halfway and accomodate Sharia in the penalty phase. That seems a reasonable compromise to me.

The defendants and their father are liars. Under Sharia, the penalty for rape is death. In Saudi Arabia, rapists get beheaded. I would favor acceding to their plea and punishing them according to their own "culture."

True, but there's that nasty business of proving it, under sharia. How a girl can round up four eyewitnesses when the word of the rapist against hers is good enough for the court would throw a wrench into things. Then there's that thing they do called honor killing, where the girl's family does the rapist the favor of just murdering her outright to spare them undo "shame" and thereby relieving him of even that remote chance of four eyewitnesses coming forward.
