Hil: Martha call just good manners

Hillary to Martha: It was just a courtesy call. Sen. Hillary Clinton said yesterday that she was just dropping a line to a friend in trouble when she called Martha Stewart after news broke of the probe into alleged insider trading.

"It was just simply a call of friendship and support, about a year ago," Clinton (D-N.Y.) said when asked about Stewart at an unrelated news conference.

Stewart, in an interview with The New Yorker, said she received encouragement in her legal fight from Clinton, who has battled a string of investigations herself.

"She was one of the first people to call me ... and very nicely say, 'You know, you just have to hang in there. It's the process,'" Stewart told the magazine.

But the ex-First Lady insisted she was not taking sides in the embattled Stewart's fight with prosecutors.

"I have no comment or knowledge about an ongoing criminal investigation," the senator said.

Yes, Martha is just a victim of circumstance. The very same thing could have happened in the realm of cattle futures. Martha is just not as clever as Hitlery. Hitlery must have given her advice too little, too late, or perhaps Martha wouldn't prostitute herself to the necessary level to receive the help that Hitlery did.

This is probably about the time that Stewart started trying to depict the accusations as a "Republican witch hunt." When I heard that her lawyer called for jury nullification in his closing arguments, in order to send Ashcroft a message, I couldn't believe it.
