The majority of Americans consistently tell pollsters they prefer lower taxes and less government spending. More Republicans than Democrats consistently say they believe in smaller government and lower taxes. Given these statements of belief, the Republican Party should be the permanent majority party, but it is not. That because most people believe in lower taxes for themselves and less government spending on other people. Like the old saying goes:
Don't tax you; don't tax me.
Tax that guy behind the tree.
