Why do people adopt facile arguments with no moral compunction?

Ah, you're one of them book readers aren't you?

I'll also add in there "Why do people think nothing can go economically wrong in the US under a Republican president?" Its like people drank the kool aid and now accept that offshoring R&D jobs is okay if its replaced with a new WalMart supercenter employing the same amount of people.

All one has to do is look to England's and France's fall from world powers thinking that they can maintain their wealth through offshoring their industries to the new world or to third worlds. This shell game is good for a couple of years but eventually the new economies either realize they're better off without you (the US to England) or just want you the hell out of the country (Vietnam to France).

It makes you wonder what the hell Rove & Co. are thinking. It's as if they are dismissing the 20% in the middle completely and counting on the salivating base to carry the day.

Yeah, they do accept it. So many posters fail to mention the poor quality of new era retail jobs, not to mention low wages. And by the end of this thread someone will tell a story of how a friend of a friend of a friend started out as a checker and now is the manager of a WalMart Superstore. Of course, 50,000 other WalMart employees started out as checkers and are still checkers. Opportunities galore!

And no, I don't read books, only Harley magazines.

GEt real, England and France fell because of two little wars that were there in the early half of the 20th century, in case you can't remember, they were called World War I and II.

Exactly, but there's one key difference. Instead of a democracy taking over for france and England (USA), a communist dictatorship (China) or a socialist hell hole (India) will take over for us. Imagine the great protectors of freedom "the chinese" running the world instead of us.
