"Until sometime after that first DI tells you, "You talk like a man with a paper a-hole!" I recommend you read and learn."
You're suggesting that I have been talking big and pretending to be something I'm not. I'm not exactly sure what I said that could give you that impression. I haven't been going around acting like I am a military expert. You are insinuating that I go around and act like some kind of hardcore warrior who then makes excuses for not joining the military. But I have never acted that way whatsoever. Someone ask me if I had ever been in the military and I said no, but that I have been thinking about joining. You are basing your assumption on me saying I was interested in joining the military but that I wished I had done it straight out of high school. I may or may not join the military and I really don't see why that matters.

ABC Radio News said there were people celebrating and dancing around the vehicle and dragging a body around... they didn't know whose body. Anyone celebrating the death of a coalition soldier or civilian should be considered a combatant.

Casualties are going back up, no political framework in place yet for the handover-this should have been taken care of by now.
"Handover" doesn't mean "walk away". We'll still be there. Even under John Effing (in the unlikely event he wins).

I say we kill them all. Ungrateful pigs.

A bomb exploded under a U.S. military vehicle west of Baghdad on Wednesday, killing five soldiers, the military said. At least four people, including one American and possibly other foreign nationals, were killed in a separate attack. Crowds burned and mutilated their bodies.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Prayers going out for the comfort, healing, and protection of our troops, and allies - for their friends and loved ones, and prayers, this election year, that our allies around the world will be strengthened - protected from, and able to see through the evil schemes - both words and deeds - of our enemies, that we may always remember the goal, stand with our allies fighting for freedom, honor their far greater sacrifices and good works.
All give some. Some give all.
REGIMENTAL PRAYER
Almighty, merciful, and loving Father,
you are the one who hears all our prayers and grants our petitions.
We ask you to remember, as we do,
the tremendous sacrifice made by those who went before us.
They have given their lives so that we might live and breathe freely.
We ask you to receive them into your hands.
Father, give us the strength and wisdom to learn from their example,
to uphold freedom and life at home and around the world.
Keep us vigilant as we guard the frontiers of freedom.
Give our leaders the wisdom and the strength to lead well.
Grant all of us courage and confidence.
Be, for all of us, troopers, a wise counsel in keeping peace
and a strong shield for us against our enemies.
Oh heavenly Father, give us the determination
that the peace and freedom won at such a high price be lasting!
Father, hold all of the troopers in the palm of your almighty hand
and protect them in the shadow of your wings.
Amen.
Adopted from the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment,
Regimental Prayer.

These might help a little
http://www.centcom.mil/
if you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see a link for casualty reports, no names are given just a unit but the information is usually posted here before its in the mainstream news.
DefenseLink.Mil is another good link to keep an eye on

IMHO, in Fallujah and elsewhere in the Sunni triangle where similar sentiments remain (BTW, this is the vast minority of Iraqis IMHO), it is time for martial law, rounding up of any suspected belligerents, internment and a complete pacification of those areas...it is past due.

If we want to win the war, we will take Fallujah off the map today. If the rats aren't calling Bush a war criminal or accusing him of an overreaction in the very near future, we will lose this war.

I like archy's idea, locate the head troublemakers, quietly take them out.
When neighborhood lead thugs are gone, the people who formerly cowered and appeased may find the courage to take a stand, help our troops...or, at least, with our intel guys on the ground we know how truly deep the corruption in Fallujah + runs....or whether it's one more staged act by our enemies, who know how to use our willing press...both intent on undermining our war efforts this election year.
After decades of focus groups, scientific and government studies, Madison Ave and Hollywood and political pandering, and thousands of years since the fall from grace, our human weaknesses are quite well known, and easily exploited in today's multi-media world.
We are sitting ducks if we don't guard our hearts and minds...and, even then, 24/7 news cycles, being 'taught' not to think in our public schools....our enemies + our press = a powerful force for bad.

I do think we need to get a hell of a lot tougher over there. We don't need to go overboard but we do need to get a lot tougher.
The only thing those people over there have respect for is raw brute force. I agree with you that we may need to consider the political ramifications - but only a little. Our civilian culture is quite a bit different. When we disagree we discuss, argue, vote the guys out, and even sometimes protest; but in the end we respect the law. They do not respect anyone who tried to barter positions. They see it as a sign of weakness. Celebrators of the death of our guys should be dealt with as conspirator's in their death. An Apache helocopter could deal with them effectively.
They are on their was to a democratic (hopefully a Republic) form of government; but they have no idea how to behave under such freedom. They must learn that NON-VIOLENT dissent is not only tolerated but respected and listened to but violent dissent wil not be tolerated. Time for some more "shock and awe".

Hi Texasforever:
My brother had mild asthma as well. Still got into the Army. Served seven years as a crypto tech. Loved it.
He's still serving the Army as a civilian electronics engineer, married to a really cute female soldier.
Tell your kids good luck for me and they DEFINITELY have my prayers...

My son just got back from driving these roads every day, and he said he'd do it again "in a minute."
Casualties do not mean the war should end, nor does it mean we should wipe out the majority of innocents when the evil ones are in the minority.
Anyone who suggests it is an idiot, and anyone who suggests that the Commander in Chief is somehow a coward for not doing so, is even worse.
Prayers for the families of those who have fallen in this NOBLE cause.

I agree that we shouldn't worry to much about world opinion. As long as we aren't intentionally killing innocent people I see everything else as fair. There are some things I think we should do even though I know for a fact we won't. I think these ideas would be accepted by most people here on Free Republic, and I think it would be an effective tactic, but I know we just aren't going to do it no matter what.
I think we should treat everyone in the video dragging the bodies around and mutilating them the same as we treat the guys who initiated the attack and actually killed the foreigners. We have there faces on this video and I doubt it would be to difficult to capture most of them. Then we should announce a day to hang them publicly and tell the people why these scum bags are being hung, while warning them that the same will happen to them if they behave the same. Then we could execute everyone of those scums bags for all to see. If there were any disruptions or anti-American protest then we could detain those involved. A lot of those people would be scared enough to shut their ignorant mouths after that.
