The first thing I noticed about this sculpture supposedly expressing Iraqi gratitude, is it was not made for a newly liberated Iraq. Rather, it was intended for export and consumption of emotional, taste-challenged Americans like you, who are easily satisfied with saccharine and rather obvious platitudes.

Why otherwise would the child in the sculpture be dressed as a stereotypical American a poster child from the 1950s, and not a stereotypical Iraqi child with head scarf and sandals? The crudely executed child throws the whole thing horribly off.

Sorry, there is NO statement of Iraq's gratitude, here, it was a cheap export item from the start, bland and poorly executed.

All this tearful hyperemotional praise towards this tribesman is totally out of place at a time when others of his tribe cheer as they drag the charred corpses of Americans through the streets. Iraqis won't police themselves, they won't cooperate in their own liberation, they seem rather pleased when Americans continue to die.

What use is this so called artist's crappy exported propaganda art now? Unless he starts producing some pro-American propaganda for domestic Iraqi production, screw him very much

Exactly John, some people are easily fooled by cheap imitations.

The "artist" knew that. He obviously made it for export to the USA. Unless he sticks his neck out and starts making pro USA art for Iraqi consumption, he's the same cowardly slave who made Saddam Hussein statues, just working for a different master.

Its as plain as plain can be that this detritus is a slice of propaganda, designed to incite sympathy (and pity) from the weak-minded masses.

Not only do I NOT have any sympathy for this tribesman or his supposed 'art', but as I mentioned before I'd liquify it down into scrap metal (suitable for munitions in the fight against tribe members like him, who attack Americans trying, in some measure, to help restore order and security to his land).

Misdirected empathy for these terrorists (those who dragged the burned bodies of Americans and tied them up on bridges) and their kin is not only uncalled for but also is totally unwarranted. And until they show some real support for our efforts to stabilize their dustbin of a country, I won't budge one IOTA as to my condemnation of their 'art' (NOTICE THE QUOTATION MARKS!)

I think the reason we are all parting ways is by the fact that you are assuming that all iraqi's are terrorists. As you well know, that's not true.

Just like the fact that not all americans were slave owners, not all germans were nazi's and not all cubans are castro lovers... There ARE IN FACT victims of saddam..in Iraq. Being brutalized, molested, raped and tortured..is being victimized..period.

I don't know this "artist's" background..sure, we can ask..did he volunteer his services to saddam, or was he forced to perform? Maybe he's just a chameleon....forming or blending in to the whoever is occupying or leading the country. Maybe he is a buttkisser, or a suck up.

Regardless....since we don't know..there's no point in drawing any conclusions as severe as yours.

Even after all this time, this is still amusing to read this back and reflect upon the lameness of a CERTAIN other person's comments and MAIL.

I guess the phone cops and internet police failed, according to a certain letter. LOL.
