Brett Bair reported from the Pentagon that a group of al-Madhi fighters have attacked US Forces and there are wounded......fighting is intense.

This area is west of Baghdad.....east of Fallujah.

Heavy Fighting in AR Ramadi Iraq~~~ Sadr's fighters have attacked US Forces.

Sadr made a serious miscalculation - by attacking now instead of after June 30th. Now we can destroy his militia without hinderance from the Iraqi government.

But WILL we.... is the bigger question. Why are we still puss'ing around with these ass clowns? Have we even repsonded to the killings of the 4 Americans yet that STARTED this?

Well, let's just hope so. I sure don't want some political pundit tying the hands of our military who are trying to protect themselves and the innocent Iraqis.

From what I have read, we've gone into Fallujah like a big dog today and arrested many of the participants of that attack (there are downsides to having your mug on TV when committing atrocities). I think it would be a mistake to engage in full-scale retaliation that would kill hundreds of innocents - we still have public opinion in Iraq on our side, and we need to not overdo any response to an action.

The dustup with the Sadrites is a separate issue - it's been a long time coming, and we need to destroy that militia sooner rather than later.

Anybody remember the chapter from Thomas Friedman's book From Jerusalem to Beirut about how Assad of Syria took care of terrorists -- Hama Rules. He turned the whole terrorist city into a parking lot; literally flattened it and paved it over. Not a bad idea.

Well, in the absence of psychic marines who can use their telepathy to determine guilt/innocence, arresting those suspected of involvement would be the proper procedure.

I know it's Debka but they recently posted this update...

Marines backed by tanks, helicopters and AC-130 “Spectre” aerial gunship engage Sunni guerrillas in fierce fighting in Fallujah. Rumsfeld reports several arrests if men responsible for ambush of four US security guards last week. US have photographs of more targets. City cordoned off and access restricted to reporters.

It's Sadr's Shi'ites helping the insurgents west of Baghdad. They were probably responsible for most of the insurgency in Baghdad. They're trying to buy some time for the insurgents in Fallujah and Ramadi.

Last stand of the insurgency.
