Bush, Cheney Prepare for 9/11 Panel Meeting (New Gorelick papers released)

WASHINGTON President Bush (search) and Vice President Dick Cheney (search) are meeting Thursday behind closed doors with the panel investigating what went wrong with U.S. intelligence before the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.
The two leaders will not be under oath and no transcript or recording of the proceedings will take place. The White House said that it has no plans to report the remarks by the president and vice president. Part of the reason, aides say, is that much of the discussion will be classified.

"If they thought it would help him, they'd televise it," James Thurber, director of American University's Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies (search), said of White House advisers. "And obviously they don't think it will help him, and so they are not."
~snip~
The Justice Department released documents publicly on Wednesday that were given to the National Commission on Terror Attacks Upon the United States (search) on Tuesday. The documents show that Gorelick was responsible for signing off on the new policy of separation and rejecting criticism from U.S. prosecutors who feared it could undermine future efforts to stop terror attacks.
The documents also show sharp criticism from Mary Jo White (search), the former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, whose office prosecuted the terrorists convicted in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing (search). That office also indicted Usama bin Laden (search) for the 1998 bombings of two U.S. embassies in Africa.
"It is hard to be totally comfortable with instructions to the FBI prohibiting contact with the United States Attorneys' offices when such prohibitions are not legally required," White wrote in a June 13, 1995, memo to then-Attorney General Janet Reno (search).

Were you aware that Rush is suggesting that this was done so Clinton could take money from the Chinese for his campaign.

I won't even watch Fox when Ceci is on. She is the most complete snot I've ever seen. I really miss Brit, but, there are some things I just cannot stomach, and she is one of them.
Since I haven't been watching FOX, can someone tell me whether John Gibson has been back on his show since Neil Cavuto insulted John's book on Saturday?

I saw her - her little statement was right off the DNC FAX machine .. "silly".
I sent Brit a message and asked him how come NOBODY is saying that Clinton brought Lindsay and Sandy Berger.

Yes. But before Rush said it, I thought it, too.

That was the most appalling moment I've ever seen from Ceci, batting her eyes like Bush and Cheney were children and saying, "I'd like to have a friend too." Really something else.
To: cyncooper
Rush has also mentioned that it also could have been done because of the OKC bombing. Jose Padilla looks suspiciously like the person who was seen getting out of the truck with McVeigh.
If the Clinton admin suspected this was terrorism, and wanted to keep it bottled up .. this would have been an opportune time for Gorelick to write her little paper. I think the timeline is close.
The whole thing stinks to high heaven .. even without an exact timeline .. I want the whole mess to be exposed.

From Wednesday's White House press briefing:
JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: Is there any agreement between the White House and the 9/11 Commission regarding the President's and the Vice President's remarks tomorrow -- that is not revealing them to the public, and only including them in the report? Or should we expect to see commissioners on television tomorrow afternoon characterizing those remarks?
MR. McCLELLAN: I don't know what the commission's plans are following the meeting. I know that when they met with President Clinton and Vice President Gore, that they put out a statement afterwards and pretty much let that speak for the meeting. But I don't know -- I don't know what their plans are for tomorrow.
JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: Is Commissioner Gorelick going to participate in this tomorrow? Or is she going to recuse herself?
MR. McCLELLAN: We've been told that all ten commission members will be present tomorrow.

Gorelick has cowpie all over her face and her questions will reveal much.....

The documents show that Gorelick was responsible for signing off on the new policy of separation and rejecting criticism from U.S. prosecutors who feared it could undermine future efforts to stop terror attacks. We now know that the UN worked with Saddam for cash and the Clinton Administration worked to weaken the law, which helped allow cash to keep flowing. With all that oil for food cash there had to be some terrorist funding. It might be interesting to see how many Saudi or Chinese clients Gorelick's firm has.

.....documents show that Gorelick was responsible for signing off on the new policy of separation and rejecting criticism from U.S. prosecutors who feared it could undermine future efforts to stop terror attacks.,.... Gorelick could not have signed off on this unless higher-ups greenlighted Gorelick's move. That would be her boss Reno, and Reno's boss Clinton who were undoubtedly in the loop.

Don't let them forget that Clinton had his "FIXER" Lindsey. I guess he was there to keep the perjury to a minimum.
To: CyberAnt
We could make a list a mile long of the schemes that crew was up to that this wall prevented investigating adequately, and why Reno and these "independent investigators" could never find any evidence of wrongdoing.
(Personally I don't agree with the Padilla/JohnDoe photo comparisons. I don't think they're the same person. But I do think there was a John Doe who holds the key and it could well be a Middle Eastern key)
To: Jeff Gannon
Thank you for posting that you asked that question and the answer you received. I did not know you posed it.
Might I also point out that Lindsey made a partisan hullabaloo by making an issue of thousands of Clinton era documents being "withheld" from the commission. The WH said many were duplicates or non-responsive. Lindsey made sure the press heard about it. The Bush administration sent the records over and the commission kept 12 documents...one the MONS that Ben Veniste then slyly insinuated was a "Kill bin Laden" order from Clinton.
Clearly Lindsey's ploy had several angles, one to paint the Bush administration as uncooperative with the commission, two to make it seem Clinton had contibuted to the war on terror during his terms and the information was being deliberately kept (as the clintonista spin would have it) from the commission and us, and three, that Clinton wanted Bin Laden killed---when his orders were much murkier.
At any rate, I sure wish Clinton bringing Berger and Lindsey had been mentioned at the Fox roundtable.

Don't let them forget that Clinton had his "FIXER" Lindsey.I didn't forget. I wrote them a brief note with a link to the TIME article reporting it, and I also cut and pasted the exact portion of the article stating it.

Gorelick was a tool of Reno.
Reno was the very ugly/vile tool of the Clintoons.
