Class War Alert!

Class War Alert! A Wonketteer writes to note that the bike upon which John Kerry perched for pix yesterday is, well, really expensive. We're shocked. You mean a guy with five homes doesn't ride a Schwinn? Still, we had no idea how expensive:

"He is shown riding a Serotta, a small, high quality, custom bike builder whose frames start at $1495 for the frame ONLY and top out at a whopping $4995 for the frame ONLY. Add $1000 for tires, gears, pedals, fancy shoes, Boston College t-shirt etc.

"Am I being petty? Sure, but c'mon, a man of the people dropping $3000 on a bike? Think of the Botox one could buy."

He added: "Man of the people my ass."

Well, we think this is unfair. Kerry needs a custom bike. It has to be able to carry especially, ahem, large packages.

Actually, I've seen reports that would indicate the bike is worth more like $7000.00!

As someone pointed out on another thread.....that's just about what Dubbya spent on his truck.

The difference in Horse Power indicates the regulations and taxes in MA compared to TX

Well, you should know the bike does not belong to Kerry. It belongs to .....wait for this .....'his family.'

Who knows, maybe one of these days J.F.Kerry will inform us that he is not really running for presidency, but that it is 'his family' that is doing so.

I wonder when the Democrats will start doubting the ability of their champ, oops chump, to win the presidency? I really wonder when it will hit them that Kerry is a modern-day Janus ....he has two faces (and probably a forked-tongue as well).

While there's a lot to dislike about John Kerry, this criticism is silly and unfair. A man should be able to spend his own $7000 on whatever he likes.

I am growing weary of the lack of vibration damping on my $150 aluminum-frame bicycle, even with front and back shocks. Does anyone have anything bad to say about a Serotta titanium 'Concours' frame? Uh, price is no object. LOL.

He certainly falls alot for the little athlete he tries to portray. Maybe he tries just a little too hard to impress - only to reveal his aging body. Gerald Ford was in better shape than this guy but the media loved to watch for his falls.

He's just practicing for when he takes the really big fall -- for Sir Hillary Lord Rodham. When he gets up from that tumble, he'll have every camera at the Democratic Party's National Convention on him, as he bows out of the race, "for the good of the party country", and annoints her the nominee.

Or his wife's $7000 ;-)

I was a real bike nut 25 years ago. I just went to The Inflation Calculator and found out I had a bike that would be over $1100 in 2002 prices. It was demolished when I t-boned a guy who pulled out of a side street in front of me.

If I were married to a good-looking, but mature heiress, and found myself secretly swooned over by a nation full of college democrat coeds, I would probably be distracting myself like crazy with experimental ferroconcrete-nanotechnology bicycles with hyperdrive.
