EXECUTION: FOUR HELD
Four people have been arrested over the beheading of American Nicholas Berg, Iraq sources say.

The 26-year-old businessman's decapitated body was found 10 days ago in Baghdad.

His killing was shown around the world on the internet.

The poor quality website video showed Berg dressed in orange overalls kneeling on the floor with his hands tied back.

There were five masked men behind him. One read a statement urging Muslims to take revenge over the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers.

The masked men then pushed the American contractor to the floor and shouted "God is greatest" above his screams.

His head was cut off with a knife and then held aloft.

The website said the execution was performed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a top ally of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

It is not known if he was among the four people arrested.

Baghdad - Four people have been arrested over the beheading of US businessman Nicholas Berg, whose decapitated body was found in Baghdad, senior Iraqi sources said on Tuesday.

Nicholas Berg's headless body was found May 9 in western Baghdad. Three days later, a videotape posted on an al-Qaeda-related website showed him being decapitated by hooded men.

Berg's captors said the killing was to avenge abuses of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison by US forces.

I think the French translation indicates that four men were arrested for the execution of Nick Berg and that a representative of the French Goverment surrendered to them.

Let us start dulling our knives.

You're right----the age of interrogation is over. Can we at least let our questioners wear pig masks as they politely ask the Al Qaeda operatives to please tell us what we want to know?

Thanks. Of course the reason I pose the question is bec I would bet that the guy who did it is the missing perp.

He's the baddest bad guy and I hope to heaven he WAS captured -- but that would go against just about everything that has transpired for us so far.

Hope I'm wrong.

According to the original french wire it said:

"oui, four video personnes"

Which I would guess indicate that the people arrested where from the video....

Nah. Stake 'em out on a street in Baghdad and have a parade: drive tanks and tracks and and trucks over 'em until there is nothing but a thin paste, then wash it into the sewer.

Nahhh...the first part sounds good - but scrape up the leavings and feed to the pigs...

With great pleasure. The wire says :

Four persons, linked to the assassination of businessman Nicholas Berg whose body was discovered in Baghdad ten days ago, have been arrested, according to a high-placed source. When asked whether more than one person was arrested following the murder, this source said "yes, four people".

The video that showed the 26-year old young businessman being decapitated by a masked man saying he was doing this to avenge the abuse of the Iraqi prisoners, has been broadcast via an Internet site. "We have progressed much", declared the aforesaid source when asked about the investigation that followed the assassination.

I would expect them to be taken out of the country, perhaps to Gitmo or to one of the other detention facilities

Not unless they're segregated from general population. They would provide too much of a morale boost for the rest of the prisoners.
