According to news reports, Cosby said: ".The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal. These people are not parenting. They're buying things for their kids--$500 sneakers for what? And won't spend $200 for 'Hooked on Phonics.'"

What took you so long to notice?! But I'm glad you did!

Cosby's been on this for years. He got his Ed.D in education thirty years ago from UMASS and has been shooting off his mouth on school and family issues ever since.

He swings left occassionally, but for the most part he's been one of the more responsible voices on the subject.

Rev. Peterson responded: "Bill Cosby is right! It's about time that high profile blacks openly spoke the truth about the problems in the black community. This is what most blacks say in the privacy of their homes, barbershops and amongst other blacks. I'm surprised that he [Cosby] made these comments in front of NAACP leaders."

Boy, what a shock! I'm truly surprised because didn't his wife say some really crude things some time back about racism...

He's been preaching this for years. this is just the first time he's been really LOUD about it, and to the NAACP, too!

Yeah, and just about every one of those teens have a cell phone. I recently read an article that it is past time for the Black kids to start wanting to learn. Some think that learning is too "White" and do not want to. How are they going to get good jobs if they do not know how to speak English and able to read. I can not remember a time when I was not an avid reader. I went to the dr. today and the nurse saw me reading a magazine and said, "I read that reading raises your IQ". Well, if that is the case, mine must be off the record!

That is good to hear from such a popular black person. I remember when I was around 8 or 9 I had an album of Bill Cosby doing his comedy that was very funny.

Not for nothing but I have seen white people speak the same way, and buy the expensive toys and they do not have a pot to piss in. Exp. the expensive clothes and the Mongoose Bike, I never heard of a Mongoose Bike but the dirt poor know all the good brands and they buy them for their kids and they live in apartments and collect welfare! Ok I'm done ranting for the day! Also, I have a co worker that does not have a pot to piss in and she walks around with a $500.00 ugly Louie Vitton bag. My god take the money and invest it!
