Yeah...I think back to the Racak Massacre in Kosovo, and how the Serbs were accused of murdering women and children, execution style, and dumping them in a trench. It was such a horrific site that it was one of the justifications that Clinton used for starting that war.

Fortunatley, forensic tests done by Finnish and UN investigators proved that the accounts given by these "KLA" citizens, didn't exactly match what they said occured. Without going over all the details (just Google), let's remember that the KLA was also filled with Muslim extremists. It's unfortunate, but these Muslims now know how to play the Western media better than our own politicians. It would not be unusual for them to kill their own...or move bodies from other areas, to advance their agenda.

Yes it is...especially with the Muslims history in Racak, Jenin, Chechnya and other conflict zones. These people have no apprehension about killing their own to secure a propaganda victory...or at least using them as human shields.

Are the US military brass as dumb as a bag of hair, that they do not realize this obvious point?

Generally they do. I hope nobody has to eat any shoes on this one.

According to the military, they scouted this place for days or even weeks, knew exactly what was going on there, and reported few if any women and no children were killed. Now we have film showing something entirely inconsistent with the military version. I want to believe the military, but I think the ball is in their court now.

I have it on good authority that AC130 gunships aren't flown in to support a ground action against anything smaller than a grand banquet!! I also have it on good authority that a ground action 130 miles from the nearest military base of operations isn't conducted unless the intelligence supports it!

Rest assured that the military version is the correct one.

Does anyone remember the story of Scheherazade from the 'Arabian Nights Tales'?

"Where are the G*d-d*mned gunsight photos and on-the-ground photos that the US military MUST have? They went in on the ground to collect weapons and other stuff. This press bullsh*t will continue to fester until the military gets the facts out. "

If it is true that ground forces never got closer than two miles away at night, then it is a pretty good bet they had no idea who they were attacking before they attacked. I agree they need to get evidence out and they need to do it quickly.

Gen. Kimmett on Hannity radio:

Coalition are almost certain they had a 'real' target that they 'took out.' [It wasn't just an innocent wedding party.]

The General wouldn't go into much more detail on an open phone line.

[Someone posted in an earlier thread that, in Iraq, all weddings take place on Thursday for some ethic reason. This attack took place on Wednesday (early a.m.) and, thus, could not have been a wedding party.]

"I would surmise that after the attack, the insurgents killed women and children in order to try and implicate Americans. "

I suppose you think they used hellfire missiles to kill them too. "Could you just stand here with your children while we aim these missiles at you please?"

Hell, I guess anything is possible, it just seems a bit of a stretch.

I've read Scheherezade's "reportage" before. Florid imaginings soup with a only a sprinkling of fact. It's enough for me to make a judgement. Besides, there are other reports that dispute what Faramarzi says about it being a "wedding party."

I would presume that terrorists, like everyone else, get married (especially those who are not going to be suicide bombers). Why can't this situation have been both--a terrorist nest and a wedding party?

So what does the AP expect us to believe? That the US military was having a dull day so they decided to go bomb a bunch of shepherds out in the middle of the desert?

There's more to this story than they're admitting. This is the kind of coverage we can expect if Osama is captured/killed before the election.

Did anyone stop to think that some of these terrorists may be packing their families around with them and they got caught in the crossfire?

If they are true to their usual MO then they had any number of woman and children all around the area to serve as Shields in the event they were attacked. They were probably pretty surprised when an AC-130 opened up on them from a couple of thousand feet in air! And the one guy said he ran and hid when the shooting started. If he could do that why couldn't others have done the same thing. Nope, I would sooner believe the military version of the story. As much as I hate to admit it, I would not be too chagrined if it turned out our guys made a mistake and it was indeed a wedding celebration then that's the breaks of war. It's one thing to intentionally target civilians and quite another when you get bad intelligence. Time was I would have been a bit more concerned, but I am a firm believer that you have to take a war to the enemy in a manner that they fear and respect.
