One of the alphabet network anchors said they used to give 1 shot per state, until they got up to 26. They decided on 21 as the permanent official salute around 1875.

If we used the formula that the rats use for crowd estimates there are over 10 million on hand for the funeral procession.

They are showing video from earlier tonight

I don't know about you, but, for me, those were the first words that any C-Span narrator has uttered in the past 6 hours.

Well, I do hope the numbers are really, really high, stuptifyingly high for all the obvious reasons but also so his enemies can't blow them off.

Why every animal on four hooves didn't completely freak out when the jets did their flyby is a complete mystery to me.

When they started yelling "We will win! We will win!" at the Wellstone funeral neither Hillary and/or Ted Kennedy bolted for the door. So it's true that you can train hooved animals to sit still. At least in Hillary's case. It's likely Kennedy could have been so drunk he didn't know where he was.

Didn't Sgt York get spooked by something during the procession and took a little time out?

I know! I walked through the room when Bob Evans was on, and I started mouthing off to the tv, assuming the usual about a hollyweird figure...except then I started listening to him, and was really very surprised.

Once again, it reminds me not to judge a book by its cover.

Training. Like when K9s are taken to the shooting range, and PD horses are made to under go training of people screaming and waving signs in their faces. They just get used to it. Training.

No, we know now that people did not forget this great man.

Not after all these years of his slow decline.

That says a lot about the character of the American people.

And about the character of the man himself.

Yes, I agree, they are today but their memoryo will fade unless the numbers are so high they can't spin them to mean something else.

I like the joke Reagan told about the kid who was selling puppies outside a hotel. There had been a Democratic Party meeting and when the people were leaving they asked the little boy "are those Democratic puppies?". The little boy replied "yes" and sold one.

A week later the same little boy was selling puppies at the same spot but this time Republicans were coming out of a meeting. One couple asked the little boy "are those Republican puppies?". The little boy replied "yes, they are". And the couple buys one.

A reporter nearby had seen the boy sell puppies the week before and he says to the boy "last week you said they were Democratic puppies, now this week they are Republican puppies. Which are they?"

The boy replied "last week they were Democratic puppies. This week they are Republican puppies because now their eyes are open".

The horse did just fine. As a matter of fact, we got a kick out of his spunkyness. He was just showing his respect in his own little way.

OK OK, you got me. I should have specified "cloven" hooves.

In Teddy's case though, I stand my ground. There are only two things on this planet that could motivate him to move that larded gluteus: A delivery truck full of Chivas flipping over on the highway and 10-For-A-Dollar Taco Day in the Senate lunchroom.

I keep wondering what a young Ronald Reagan, say 25 years old, would have thought if he were told that he would live to 93 years of age and this is what your funeral is going to look like. Then he sees the long shot of this procession. Huh? How? Whoa. How could a person imagine that their life would have amounted to this much! His did.

How much mention will the oppressive weather conditions (90 degrees...85% humidity) be given when the lib 'rats write about the overwhelming turnout (mile long lines) in honoring President Reagan that occurred today?

I'm gonna say none, nada, zero, zip, nothing.
