The first definition talks about "what is left over" - yes, definition 2 is a corpse but.. to me it implies physical pieces missing. I don't recall ever hearing it apply to a whole person. Maybe it's just my memory.

CSPAN lady caller (and the leftist continue to whine) about Reagan not funding more AIDS money.

So, to her, six billion dollars in seven years isn't enough?

Tom, I swear they are robotic callers!

I'm fine right now, but I know I'mm going to lose it when the riderless horse rides down Penn. Ave.

I'm with ya...that will be the moment for me. I well remember the riderless horse for Kennedy. Did you know the rear facing boots used will be Reagan's very own? I will blubber then.

Ted Rall said this talking point last night... 'Reagan let 500 million people die of AIDS' or some ridiculous b.s.

It implies that they had to 'piece together' that body, or that not all of it is there.

No, it implies that the physical body is all that REMAINS of President Reagan, at least in our world. It implies that the dead body isn't President Reagan, that his soul has left his body, and hence his body is what remains--at least physically. It's not a term of disrespect. In fact, it suggests the contrary--that his soul lives on. It doesn't imply that part of his body isn't there, only that part of President Reagan isn't there. And there's no denying that.

casket will be transferred from it to the other contrivance (I forget the word),

Caisson, drawn by six horses. Same one used for President Lincoln, I believe.
