Sorry to crack jokes but all I can think is how Dianne Feinstein will be hiding under her desk.

English boots have a loop you can see in one of the pictures that will slide through the stirrup leather to hold them up, if that wasn't there, they would fasten them upright some other way to ensure they don't fall off.

The boots would stand in the stirrups either direction, they are symetrical, there isn't a functional reason they are backward, only a traditional reason.

Just wait - we're going to hear complaints about the 'huge cost' of all this.

Already heard it on FNC earlier this afternoon. Said that DC would be seeking Federal Funds

DC Chapter On-Scene Report #2: They are standing behind the last of about eight military bands. The band is in white - sounds like Navy. Look for the large sign that says, “Now THERE was a President!” with a picture of President Reagan. Names in my next post.

The crowds keep building, ten and more deep in places.

MSNBC analyst reporting that Kerry is still running campaign ads so he didn't shut down his campaign completely.

Now talking about how President Bush is going to get a bump from all of this. Matthews -- not a single democrat voice will be heard -- YEA!!!!

Major speech by Dick Cheney tonight! I love it! Driving the RATs nuts!

Mrs. Reagan is staying at Blair House across from the WH.

And it's their claim that he never publically mentioned AIDS until '87 is demonstrably false. He mentioned it in '85 and in his SOTU speech in '86.

But, enough of that for the moment.

Ok - PUKING - Matthews on PMSNBC talking about how there aren't any Dems invited to participate in the ceremonies. That Cheny and Bush will use this as a political platform. Ok, now I'm really pissed.

How gracious of Putin to allow Gorbechev to head the Russian delegation.

Gorby is the appropriate choice. One thing interesting about Gorbachev. Before he and Reagan met in Geneva for the first time, most of the commentators here were saying that Gorby would eat Reagan alive. What really happened is that Gorbachev became completely enamoured of Reagan. I remember seeing the video pictures of Gorby and Reagan in Geneva after they had been there for a while and there was an absolute look of love in Gorby's eyes as he looked like an entranced pussycat in Reagan's presence. Anybody else remember that?

Anyway, here is my theory about what happened. You have to remember that during all of Gorby's adult life he was involved in a constant power struggle with other Communist party members. They were all struggling and plotting against each other. In such a situation Gorbachev had NO friends. He might not even have known what friendship was all about. So along in 1985 he meets Reagan who the the most amiable and kindly of men. Since Gorby at heart wasn't totally ruthless like a lot of commies were, he was completely enchanted by Reagan. Ronald Reagan was most likely the FIRST friend he ever had so that explains the look of adoration (and some surprise) on Gorby's face when they first met.

If you can see videos of that Geneva meeting, you will see what I mean.

Though Chris Matthews is trying my patience.

He says Cheney has free reign to expound on Reaganomics tonight (I gather Chris sees this as sly politicking by the Veep)

But I think Lester Holt has been great, the "man on the street" interviews have been good and good street view.

Matthews says again he bets Cheney gives a "major speech".

Lester Holt now says President Bush will visit the Rotunda *tomorrow* and Mrs. Reagan who will be staying at Blair House.
