Because that's what this is - the State Funeral. Friday, in DC, at National Cathedral, is the National Memorial Service. And, later on Friday, in California, will be internment.

wonder why hume kept calling it a "state funeral" The service in the Capitol was the state funeral. The service in the Cathedral will be the national funeral. That's what they were saying on MSNBC earlier.

wonder why hume kept calling it a "state funeral" The ceremony at the Capitol Rotunda was the "state funeral". The ceremony at the National Cathedral on Friday is called something like the National Funeral.

Because it is one.
I was wrong.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to watch the FNC coverage since the local Fox station didn't pick up the feed.
So, I was stuck with CBS and they just called it a "short ceremony."
Brit is correct, however.
