No wonder Liberals have no money, throwing away good money on trashy movies. KEEP IT UP LIBERALS, Democrats are slowly losing all credibility and financing.

This movie will get much more play in the media in October when it is released on DVD.

I'm wondering if there should be a vanity post telling newbies not to post a vanity about MM's trash. Certainly all the posts I have read so far are trolls, but there is a chance, a small chance, that perhaps some innocent newbie will actually try to post an honest vanity about having seen it. I doubt it, but it is possible.

Bill Clinton's biography is in the top ten, too.

Cheap thrills abound.

Don't think so. It will be old hat by then.

But nice try at trying to keep hope alive.

what's scary is not so much that it is #1, but that it is #1 with only 868 theaters (as opposed to 2726 for White Chicks). That means Fahrenheit is outselling by over 3-1 on a per screen basis.

I hate to think if we were living in the 1940's how we would be able to defeat Germany and Japan.

I believe it. I saw the the movie in Chicago last night and had to wait in the longest line I've ever seen for a movie since Star Wars Episode I. And that was for the midnight showing, all the others were sold out days ago.

I'm sure it will be the complete opposite next weekend, though. I don't think the movie will get good word of mouth, because it's really not that good a film. A lot of liberals leaving the theater were disappointed, saying it didn't have the energy of Moore's other films.

And here I thought that Fahrenheit 911 was the temperature at which 'Rats melt down (Gore, Dean).

Just to put things in perspective, this a a highly publicized movie, opening on spring/summer weekend (nice weather) and it is the lowest grossing #1 film since February 20th.

There are several of us who predicted this in other threads. This movie is going to break records. It is going to be very big for a while. Think about it, 40% of the US dislikes Bush, most of those positively HATE the guy. The movie will be historic.

It is still a load of crap, of course, but people have to realize what we are dealing with.

Next week, after his base got its dose of poli-porn, it will be lucky to be in the top five.

I think the numbers will stay pretty high for next week, because there aren't enough theaters showing it yet to meet the demand. It's expanding to around 2000 screens next weekend from the 868 it opened with.

Oh, and if you look at the amount PER SCREEN, that may be an all time record.

Maybe Moore wouldn't want Kerry to win? Another term for Bush another huge bucket of money from the liberal base in 2008 for the sequel to F911.

I agree... plus the FEC looks ready to stop promotion of this video thanks to McCain-Feingold.

Man did that law ever jump up and bite the liberals in the ass. I guess they assumed as the 'party of the people' they could draw in much more in individual smaller donations.

What is it now, $217 million and counting?

Well I'm certainly no liberal and I saw the film. It's basically a borderline conspiracy theory movie. Moore obviously has spent a lot of time lurking at alt.conspiracy on Usenet.

I saw more than a few shaking their heads snickering over a few of these "factual" scenes during the movie. Sure the evangelical liberal lunatics will embrace this as fact, but I think many people will see this "documentary" for what it is; just more pablum in the endless left vs. right nonsense that's replaced meaningful debate in this country.

I have to hand it to Moore though, the guy knows and has his schtick down cold. He's gone from a marginal documentary filmmaker to a household name. He should send President Bush a royalty check I think.

Bill's book and the movie will fizzle out before the Fourth of July.
