The wife of vice presidential hopeful John Edwards is defending Whoopi Goldberg after the potty-mouthed comedienne attacked President Bush with an X-rated monologue at Thursday night's Kerry-Edwards fundraiser in New York.
Rejecting calls for her husband's campaign to apologize for Goldberg's outburst, Mrs. Edwards said Friday that the anti-Bush tirade was justified.
"A lot of people are going to be angry - there's a lot to be angry about," she told reporters at a fundraising breakfast on Manhattan's West side. "It's a free country and people are going to express that anger."

I am going to "weigh in" on the weight issue. :-) I think what she did was plenty of fodder for our cause. John Kerry gets slammed because he's butt ugly, John Edwards gets slammed because he's just too cute and Liz gets slammed because she's overweight. We have so much more to work with than the "looks" issue. I hate it when our forum resembles the DU site.

Typical of so many (not all, mind you) women who get married and then let their figure go. Yeah, yeah, blame it on the kids. I've met women with children who still looked great afterwards. Just takes a little extra effort.

Well I never liked the insults of Hillary and Chelsea or Janet Reno based on looks either. It made me think of the tragic results of the trashing of Paul Jones and Linda Tripp over their looks, both women having plastic surgery and feeling such pain. I know Elizabeth Edwards has little class and has approved of the disgusting words from Whoopi and others. But we simply can't drop to their level and expect to be taken as seriously as we'd like, and so much is at stake this time. It's frightening to think of Kerry and Edwards possibly duping the country and winning. They are shallow and corrupt beyond all belief. Maybe beyond the Clintons.
She uses hypocritical emoticons, too, to hide her annoyance behind a punctuation smirk.
The world is cruel to the heavy, is it not? How do we know this? Does Rush Limbaugh know anything about it? Maybe this is an advantage worth taking.

Sort of looks like her in that pic. Is there something we don't know? Of course, by what I've seen, the john/johns seem to like each other, not their wives.
I figure that the first time someone mentions she is overweight and does not comb her hair the liberal media will go ballistic and write articles about Republicans attacking women. This is where your point is taken - if this were a Republican wife, this would be fair game. Remember we are dealing with the same liberal media who attacked Linda Tripp, Paula Jones, and Katherine Harris for being stupid, ugly, or fat, but gave were upset at the mild attacks of the Lazio campaign.
What I noticed about this picture is the disdain Messier Heinz has on his face, ok its hard to tell when he's not happy, directed at the little girl. Speaks volumes.

What is with the Stepford wives/democrat wives thing? From Tipper to Theresa to Elisabeth, these women all seem to be seriously looney.
I really would like to put my finger on what is wrong with Theresa Hines though. She speaks in a spaced monotone and looks very strange. Either she is very heavily medicated or demonically possessed.
Maybe when the Breck Girl won his $25M settlement, he cashed in the judgement for Liz's bonbons.
I will resist casing prettys boys wife on her weight, even if she looks like that if one of her legs broke off gravy would run out.
