I travel the extra 20 miles from NC to buy ALL of my groceries, gas, and big ticket items in Virginia anyway because of the lower VA sales tax ($.02 sales tax difference between VA/NC) and cheaper VA gas ($0.12 lower per gallon than NC). Not to mention that VA has the lottery and NC is the only state in the Southeast that does not. The homo-boycott of VA gives me extra incentive to continue doing business in the Old Dominion State.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Gay activists are urging a boycott of Virginia because of a new ban on civil unions and other marriage-like arrangements for same-sex couples.

VirginiaisforHaters.org urges people not to buy products or services from Virginia-based companies and suggests tourists visit other states. The name is a play on the state tourism motto, "Virginia is for lovers."

Another group, Make Love Legal, is developing strategies for boycotting the 400th anniversary celebration of the founding of Jamestown in 2007.

I can understand why Virginia-based manufacturers and tourism attractions might care an itsy bit (losing one or two percent of your market might hurt somewhat), but I doubt that the residents of that state really care at all.

They just passed a minor amendment to legislation already in place saying that Virginia will not recognize civil unions or other contractual agreements that are supposed to give the benefits and responsibilities of marriage. The hysteria in the gay activist community is quite amusing. ;-D They are saying that this law will prevent any and all contracts between two homosexuals, like a gay man selling his car to a lesbian. Of course the amendment basically changes nothing. I like reading their ravings so I can point and laugh!
