Yeah we ought to, Mr. Sink, but.....I'd modify that to say you who have kids and grandkids and care about that, and they run to you and yell "Grampaw!" or "Grammaw!", it matters then cuz I remember how much I loved my Grampaw and Grammaw, but those of us who didn't do the marriage and kids thing, nah. You just go until it's done. And that's that. Doesn't work for everyone. I'm a conservative who believes in all those good traditions, but it doesn't work out for everyone.

Absolutely. Freepers take care of yourself. It is far too easy to let yourselves go and not take care of your body. Get out and exercise, quit smoking, don't drink too much. We need you all here. One less Freeper to stand up to the Liberals. RIP Mortimer.

This has been a bad year for FReepers. We've lost so many.

No disresect intended, but with a hundred thousand registered freepers, some are gonna go every year.

Why should we let back someone who couldn't behave himself? That's one of the big differences between conservatives and the liberals.... we are actually civilized. If this RFK did enough to get banned, maybe he needs some time to grow.

RIP, I'm very sorry for his family. I'm sure he was some mom's little boy or some gal's husband.
*boy howdy, I sure feel exceptionally fortunate.

I don't know how he got himself banned. I just know that he was one of the keenest intellects on this forum. You can read his essays here.

Do you know exactly what he got banned for? If not how can you know what he needs?

One of the reasons that FR is so addictive is that you can wade through a thousand posts of pure dreck and then suddenly one will jump out at you as so insightful, so perceptive that it borders on genius. You then wade through the next thousand posts just hoping that you will find another one of those gems. Consistantly those gems appeared above the initials RLK.

I'm not saying that because I agree with him. I don't. He did provide a consistant basis of reference that tested and challenged my own perspectives.

If he were to come back he would do exactly as he did before. He's too honest and independent to do anything else. There's more to him than being a cantankerous old codger, he's an intellectual purist. That is something we can use more of. I say bring him back, warts and all.

That has been my experience also. The very first RLK piece I came across was The Matrix.

I took a little wander through that post and look what I found:

When everything becomes genocide, then nothing is really genocide, and the word becomes mere grist to be ground in amy ideological mill.

If you modify that to...

When everything becomes marriage, then nothing is really marriage, and the word becomes mere grist to be ground in amy ideological mill.

...you have a distilled essence of the argument against gay marriage, possibly the one sentence that can save the institution.

There are other instances where this distillation can be exercised. The bastardization is not just of language, but of institutions. Thank you Mortimer Snavely

Thank you for letting us know.

Prayers for his repose in Heaven, and for the consolation of his family and friends.

I will miss him. He was one of my best friends. Here is the notice I had received:

Dearest friends and loved ones of (snip) - he was found dead about 5:00 pm 05 July. He had apparently had a heart attack was the decision of the Medical Examiner. He was loved by you and many others - all who knew him were impressed with his great intellect but he was so much more than that. One could ask for no finer friend or more dedicated worker for those who employed him. I am sure he will be missed by you all. (snip)

And so he will, even by those who never got him. I knew him to be a good man.

His most recent tag-line was:
Comitas, Firmitas, Gravitas, Humanitas, Industria
Comitas: courteousness
Gravitas: substance
Humanitas: humaneness
Industria: industriousness

He was at least all that..

May we meet again someday. Rest in peace, my good friend..
