I think y'all will appreciate this poem, it's one of my favorites. It hits at the heart of the power of the Left and the spineless vacillation of many in the Republican party. It is chilling.
Slouching towards Bethlehem

The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in the sands of the desert.

Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know

That poem always gives me the chills.
Yeats believed that every 2000 years, there was a turning point when Christianity would be overtaken by "the rough beast," hence the last line (also the title of Bork's book).
It is powerful imagery..."slouching toward Bethlehem"...but even if signs of the center's not holding and values' turned upside down, I REFUSE to embrace this view.
