Looks like the Outer Banks is about to be caught with their pants down! Hurricane Alex is now a category two (11:00 am est) and appears to be headed directly into Pamlico Sound. That puts the east side of the storm directly over Hatteras Island, which at this point is at the height of the tourist season. No evacuation orders were issued for this storm. Every one thought it would be a harmless little puppy that would remain offshore. Let's hope it makes a turn to the east right away. Otherwise, there could be trouble!!!
John Edwards will announce that HELP is on the way, return to his home state,,and single-handedly blow the storm out to sea..
C'mon, People! Isn't it clear by now that Bush planned this hurricane?
Storm update
Then he'll introduce a bill to help all the people who were hurt by the storm, but in the end, when Tom Daschle points out to him that it would be detrimental to the Democrats, he will vote against his own bill.
That's what he did after Hurrican Floyd.
If not John Edwards, who may sue God for the loses, but Pat Robertson...Let's get Pat Robertson to pray it away...
Too bad its too early in the season to call it Hurricane Sandy.
BUT FEAR NOT...

John Kerry and his old Vietnam war buddies, (he served in Vietnam you know!) along with backup from Michael Moore and Licorice the Hamster are going to conduct a daring raid to destroy the evil HGCD and spoil another Bush/Cheney nefarious plot.
Don't let anyone from DU see that. It would become tonights top story with Peter Jennings, Brokaw, etc

Sorry, but you're full of crap.
The area has had a tropical storm warning for two days. Hatteras did not experience hurricane force sustained winds. Anyone there not prepared is a moron who deserves whatever they got.
Just a 'tad wet out there...
According to the 5 p.m. NHC advisory, Hatteras experienced sustained category 1 hurricane winds. Additionally, there were two independent and separate reports by private weather organizations measuring 102 mph gusts in Hatteras. Sure, they had a hurricane warning up, but it was widely reported that hurricane winds would stay offshore, and widely predicted that the storm wouldn't strengthen to category 2.
Sounds like that's what he did after Iraq.
I haven't seen this up on their web page, but WAVY-TV (Norfolk/Portsmouth, VA) reported on the 5 pm news that there was a gust to 120 mph at the Ocracoke ferry terminal, with 4 to 6 feet of water covering parts of the Ocracoke Island as a result of soundside flooding. Pretty impressive considering how people were poo-poohing and writing off this storm yesterday. I live in Va Beach, and I had to turn around twice this morning on the way home from work due to flooding from the torrential rains. I saw about a half dozen cars submerged in the streets.
I just talked to my mom (there where you are). She said the rain was incredible.
