Officers in hurricane-ravaged Fort Myers used a Taser gun on a man allegedly trying to get by a police barrier to get home, and it was all caught on tape.
This video was just mention on Boortz...

I had a cousin who's home was leveled by the tornado that hit OKC several years ago. Homeowners were't allowed back in, ostensibly to keep looters out. She, along with others, was robbed blind by recovery personell who were allowed unlimited access to the homes with no oversight.
The only one who really cares about their home is the owner. If he's not on the property, he'll be robbed.
They didn't expect them to survive.
they dont "let" anyone stay. those people locked up and told the cops to go away. for privacy rights, they cant go in unless there is an obvious crime or emergency.
also, its hard to loot from under 1800 lbs of metal and roofing.
Where they gonna hide the loot? :-)
Because they don't have the resources to go door-to-door dragging screaming residents from their homes.
Not enough people, trucks, or time.
Then what's to stop the people who stayed behind from looting their neighbors' homes?
Doesn't make too much sense to leave people behind, does it? But they did, didn't they?
Why didn't they force everyone from their homes before the hurricane hit?
Gee, and then the government morons will wonder why people don't evacuate next time. Many people didn't leave because they wouldn't leave their pets with no one to care for them. And they were right because their pets would starve to death before the government lets them go back to check on them. I would NEVER evacuate my property under these circumstances.
this is something they tried. that is what an "evacuation" is.
And yet they did, didn't they?
Aren't they afraid of looting, downed powerlines, broken gas mains, etc.?
If they man was able to prove his house was in the area, then there's no reason not to let him through especially if other homeowners are already in the area.
take your pet with you.
oh by all means then, prove your house is on your address after its been ripped apart by 140 mph winds.
I wonder if this guy produced any ID to prove he lives there?
If he can prove his home is in the area, then why not let him through especially if there's already other homeowners in the area.
the man was in a van with his kids... this suggests he left town. he didnt survive the hurrican because he wasnt there for it.
Pets are not allowed at the shelters. Might make someone allegic. So you have to leave them at home.
Maybe the cops kept him out so they get to the good stuff first? ;)
i will direct you back to number 17, which you have answered, but not to satisfaction.
would you expect a cop to allow a man to climb down a dam? its a dangerous area, and he's a cop. he is held responsible because of his status.
Hey, it's not the government's fault they survived!
Then why not let the homeowners back into the area?
Doesn't make too much sense to allow some homeowners to stay in the area while keeping other homeowners out.
then what makes you think they survived the hurricane?
