Officers in hurricane-ravaged Fort Myers used a Taser gun on a man allegedly trying to get by a police barrier to get home, and it was all caught on tape.
This video was just mention on Boortz...

Duh! The reason for the evacuation is over. Hel-lo...
Time to get on with the rebuilding and there's no reason not to let the homeowners back into the area especially in light of the fact that there are already other homeowners in the area.
Because they'll report the true body count, you dope!
we've addressed this, you're going in circles.
they tell people to leave for their own safety, they cant force anyone to leave though.
they dont let people back in for their own safety, but the circumstance (more time on your hands now, as no hurricane is coming to bash your house in) allows them to control the situation, not just run up the street once and get out of town.
Hey! A stuned beeber tasered by officials!!!
Did the hurricane rip the address off the maps, too?
Yah think?
With win the argument no matter what logic like yours, I certainly hope you don't wear a badge.
you asked why they evacuated. i told you. the evac is over, yes, which is why people are in the area. not the homes.
would you feel comfortable letting people go into a condemned building if you were the person in charge and you knew the building could fall at any time? would you feel that would be a wise choice?
*** DING DING DING *** No more calls; we have a winner!
Doesn't matter, anytime anything like this happens, the libertarian crowd that basically thinks there is no circumstance in which a law enforcement officer can prevent someone from doing something he wants to do, or compel someone to do something he doesn't want to do, comes roaring out of the woodwork.
Do the authorities have that much trouble telling the difference between the living and the dead, sport?
Maybe someone should tell them not to bury the survivors.
where the hell are you coming up with that? the guy said "if he can prove his house is in the area"
my answer is a solid "he cant" with a twist of sarcasm.
oh my God, you are a thick one.
you JUST said in the post i was responding to that he survived. read your own words.
FUGGIN A! That would be me in the same situation only I'd be sporting the M-1 so I can bag looters in my neighbor's YARD! And the ones down the street! HAHA!
address or not, what is your property may be 5 blocks away. what is someone else's may be in your address.
Nope, They have real trouble telling us the truth, or hadn't you noticed?
IMO the tasing was uncalled for. Those who disagree might want to actually WATCH the video first before assuming you have it all figured out. The guy was most certainly posing no threat and wasn't even that animated. He was standing outside his minivan with his kids inside, arguing with the police when they tased him.
There are a lot of good cops out there, and they do a tough job that I wouldn't want. They also don't get paid a great deal for doing it. That does not, however, excuse the fact that a lot of them are really eaten up with their authority and take great offense to anyone who dares to even "talk back" to them. And in my experience, this attitude is waxing, not waning.
Plenty of law-abiding citizens detest the police because of that attitude--I'm not among them--and because of the fact that a policeman will cover for another policeman virtually 100% of the time, no matter how wrong the other one might have been. If you don't believe that, butt heads with a bad one and see where the others stand.
MM
They could simply check his ID and they would know if he is a looter or not. Get real. Amazing how the police always develop an us against them attitude instead of trying to work with people.
Pretty sneaky, them hurricanes. They just sneak right up without warning, then blammo.
If we're going around in circles it's because you still haven't explained why the danger is so much worse for people returning to the area than it is for those who stayed behind.
If the danger is so bad, then explain why they didn't forcibly evacuate everyone.
