Iranian Talk Of an Attack On America
New York Sun ^ | 8/18/2004 | STEVEN STALINSKY

There are growing indications that Iran may be planning an attack on American soil. These indicators are not secret — they appear in speeches, newspaper articles, TV programs, and sermons in Iran by figures linked to the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and other government officials, all discussing potential Iranian attacks on America, which will subsequently lead to its destruction.

A report on May 28 in Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported that an Iranian intelligence unit has established a center called “The Brigades of the Shahids of the Global Islamic Awakening.”The paper claimed that it had obtained a tape with a speech by Hassan Abbassi, a Revolutionary Guards intelligence theoretician who teaches at Al-Hussein University. In the tape, Mr. Abbassi spoke of Tehran’s secret plans, which include “a strategy drawn up for the destruction of Anglo-Saxon civilization.” In order to accomplish this, he explained,“There are 29 sensitive sites in the U.S. and in the West. We have already spied on these sites and we know how we are going to attack them.”

It begins to appear that we take out the source of the problem next, as Jimmy Carter should have done years ago. The mullahs are teetering, and a little covert action in the country in support of a return of democracy will go a long way toward stabilizing Iraq, removing support for terrorism, and getting Syria to turn over the WMDs that Saddam shipped there.

Just as the 9/11 Commission reports there were over 70 sources of Iraq threatening to attack America and the leftists are STILL opposed to our going there, they will oppose any action in Iran as well.

The leftists prefer to wait until we are attacked. They want our economy to fail. And this thing with funding first responders that the left is always talking about proves that point. They defund or try to defund the military and intelligence and want more money for the people who will clean up AFTER an attack.

The left prefers to go after the perpetrators instead of the insigators and terrorist infrastructure. If the left had their way and all attacks upon America were handled as legal matters, less than forty would be indicted for all attacks upon America in the 1990s-2004, hardly a dent in the terrorist infrastructure.

The key point is later in the article...

“Time bombs within America” is how Iranian lawmaker Hamid-Reza Katoziyan described Muslims within America, who could be behind future terrorist attacks here... The whole group of people belonging to the Arab community and…Muslims living in the U.S. are currently, in my opinion, in a special situation. Perhaps they do not walk the streets with weapons in their hands or attach bombs to themselves in order to carry out a suicide operation, but the thought is there.”

Their R&D folks better get started trying to figure out putting suction cup shoes on the camels so they can make the transition from sand to glass.

“a strategy drawn up for the destruction of Anglo-Saxon civilization.”

Must have studied in France, or allied with them. That's French jargon.

The Left doesn't like the idea of preemptive action. Neither does much of the Right. Once Iran slaps leather, though, America will unite.

"they will oppose any action in Iran as well."

Like Maureen Dowd, they will make flippant comments about our having "attacked the wrong country," as if they would approve a Republican president attacking ANYONE.

Within security circles, there is an estimate that about 120 to 150 mullas minimum would need to go if Iran is to stabilize. That is a very large scale for a covert operation.

Belive it or not, we're still living in a pre-9/11 America under George Bush. Once we get attacked here again we'll address the borders and the fact that Iran was behind the first 9/11 attack too.

I agree. Appeasement with terrorists works the same way it does with toddlers.

Scenario: You are in the grocery story. Precious child starts asking for toy, candy, whatever. You say no. Child pitches temper tantrum.

You have two choices. Give in to temper tantrum and give child what he/she wants or stand your ground. You give in, and every time you go to the grocery store, the child repeats the tantrum. When you do finally decide to hold your ground and say NO you are in for a painful and loud scene.

It's not easy to say no sometimes - after all you've got all these people staring at you and the screaming child.

Now you know how our President feels but he's got the problem on a global scale. We've given in to these thugs so many times that they think they can eventually get us to give in. Guess what? We usually do.

As long as the temper tantrum or terrorism or bullying gets them what they want, they'll continue to use that technique.

It's time to recognize that we helped create this problem with wishy washy leaders. It's time to say no - we're not being pushed around any more. Sure, they may accelerate the tactics. But in the long run it will be safer for us and for our kids.

Of course we are. The reason is that the country did not mobilize for war but every effort was made to keep the appearance of peacetime at home. All that could change in an instant if we are attacked by an enemy country rather than a non-national band of thugs such as Alqaida.

LOL - yes but, those were NOT covert ops - those were just plain "wacks". Not to say that we should not be doing some wacking ourselves.....

The whole group of people belonging to the Arab community.......

Don't go overboard -- most of the Arabs here in the US are Christian Arabs -- let's concentrate on the dedicated Muslims.

Hugh?????/

Jimmy Carter supported the return of the Ayatollah. He also undermined the Shah. It was the sensitive thing to do and made the radical Arabs love up. Kerry would like to revive this policy.

"Probably all the other families will line up against us. But, it's alright. These things have to happen once every ten years or so ... gets rid of the bad blood. You gotta stop 'em at the beginning. Like they shoulda stopped Hitler at Munich, they shoulda never let him get away with that, they were just asking for big trouble..."
