Olympics: NBC just hit Bush over Olympics ad with negative comments from Iraq soccer team
self | August 24, 2004

I just saw a segment before the Iraq soccer match which was a hit piece on Bush. NBC criticized Bush for making an ad that includes Iraq and Afghanistan. By the way, the ad doesn't even mention soccer. The NBC hit piece had on some comments from the Iraq soccer team.

That caused me to write a nasty email to NBC Sports:

The worst part about watching this year's Olympic coverage (aside from NBC not always showing the scores or Bob Costas' hair) has been the Kerry and the media fund advertisements we've had to endure here in a battleground state of Florida.

Don't react to media manipulation. They are trying to undermine support for the liberation.

I'll give it a shot, this time not from the hip.

Fox News should have correspondents over there interviewing the rest of the team so they could relay how they feel.

I agree. These two or three were sought out by the media, IMHO. Soon we will hear from those who have a different viewpoint, OR we may even find that the quotes don't represent the players' viewpoints at all.

At the half, Paraguay is beating Iraq 2 to 0. Aside from that, if that Iraqi player (or players) is really as ungrateful as he sounds, he has no character and would deserve to live under a Sadaamite dictatorship. On the other hand, is it possible to believe anything you hear on NBC or CNN, etc?Things either get lost or embellished in the translation.

Character is doing the right thing no matter the popularity of that duty.

President Bush did the right thing, and if there are those Iraqi's who still feel the need to bash the US.....so be it.

We are hunting terrorists one at a time......and we will prevail.

I wish these frigging Iraqi soccer players had the balls

Actually, they do have balls, your thinking of the last soccer team, the team that lost under 'Coach' Uday, they are the team w/o 'em.

We should all file a complaint with the FCC for misuse of regulated airwaves for political purposes. My complaint was this:

I am writing to express my extreme displeasure with NBC's endorsement of a political position using FCC regulated airwaves. I cite the Jim Lampley editorial on George Bush's unconfirmed report of visiting Athens and the anti-Bush piece prior to the Iraq and Paraguay Soccer match.

I noticed that NBC did not show what Americans (and the Bush administration) had done for the team including putting $10 million into their Olympic program.

I will be filing a complaint with the FCC immediately.

They just interviewed two fans who said this showed the "new Iraq" Whether they won or loss.NBC made point they did not have to worry about torture. They also told how FIFA was planning to pay to rebuild the soccer proram, stadium and training facilities.

CNN picked the two anti-US players and the rest of the MSM will follow.

Two or 22, I stopped rooting for them immediately and I'm sitting her hoping that Paraguay adds a few more to their 3-0 lead.

Screw the Islamists.

Hmmmm? Maybe you should convey that info to NBC and tell them the rest of us are disgusted with their POLITICAL stand against America .. and at least NBC doesn't have to be worried about being tortured or murdered for their stupid comments about their own country .. but I wouldn't take any bets on their continued ratings.

I'm still mad over the stinking comments they made when our team entered the the stadium to resounding CHEERS, and Bob Costas had to comment that the Greek people could distinguish against the govt of America and the people. And then .. they all but refused to show pictures of the USA team and the Iraq/Afghan teams hugging each other.

And .. they were almost cheering when China moved ahead of us with Gold medals .. but now that WE'RE AHEAD again, they barely mention it. Disgusting people - and no wonder why I don't watch NBC.

Coincidentally, NBC sent me a survey about their Olympic coverage. They want to know how much time you've watched the Olympics and how their coverage has been.

Needless to say I gave them negatives.

I miss the days when ABC and Jim McKay did the Summer and Winter Olympics. They knew how to present them and make you care about the people taking part. NBC, even though it's had the Summer and Winter Games since 1988, still doesn't have a clue.

Well now, if they loose to Paraguay do you think the same microphones will be stuck in their face and then be asked, "What would happen to you if the US had not killed Sadam's sons?"

Don't you guys get it???? Clinton quashed all his bad deeds by having his "business" friends threaten to pull advertising if they bad-mouthed him in the press/TV and didn't pound his opponents... Kerry is undoubtatedly doing the same... unfortunately advertising rules the world and the dems became the party of big-business under Clinton -- and sold our contry down the river in the process..... NBC is owned by GE who got lots of big deals with China thanks to Clinton -- etc., etc., etc...

Hmmmm? Is that why NBCABCCNNCBSMSNBC all have ratings in the toilet ..??

Looks to me like business threats to pull ads doesn't have near the affect of THE AMERICAN PUBLIC turning the dial.

And .. it's a proven FACT that 89% of the media ARE DEMOCRATS. Of course they would support their own candidate .. because they're also among the America-haters just like Kerry.
