GIGOLO JOHN'S MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR -- The Floundering Kerry Campaign!
ICONOCLAST ^ | WILLIAM GRIM

Posted on 09/01/2004 8:48:21 AM PDT by BurkesLaw

Well, I wasn't there, but I figure 254 Swift Boat veterans can't all be wrong. If they say John Kerry was a grandstanding phony whose war injuries were self-inflicted, that's good enough for me. I do know one thing for certain, and that is that Gigolo John must have been smoking some pretty strong weed or dropping a lot of acid in Nam, because the presidential campaign he is currently running has all the hallmarks of a bad LSD flashback.

Other than molesting an 8-year old Spanish-speaking African-American quadriplegic on "Larry King Live", I can't imagine any way in which Kerry could do any more harm to his campaign than he has already done by emphasizing his checkered career in the Armed Forces. But then, it does appear that self-inflicted wounds are a Kerry specialty. I keep forgetting that he's French.

In 2004 there are only two real issues in the campaign for the presidency: the War Against Muslim Terror and the economy. The economy is doing well and is largely off the table as a topic. That leaves the War. But somehow the war that Gigolo John has decided to campaign on is one that ended thirty years ago. Go figure. Maybe those acid flashbacks make Kerry think it's 1973 again. Either that or he has been listening to too much Deep Purple and Credence Clearwater Revival in the rumpus room of one of his current sugar-mommy wife's many mansions.

Now it's one thing to campaign on your war record if you're an authentic war hero. Bob Dole, John McCain, Max Cleland, George Bush, Sr., even George McGovern fought bravely and long and put their lives at risk many times while serving in the Armed Forces during wartime. But they went to war out of a sense of duty, honor and patriotism, not just to get their tickets punched in order to pump up their resumes for future runs at high office. And Messrs. Dole, McCain, Cleland, Bush, Sr. and McGovern certainly did not savagely attack their fellow servicemen as war criminals and monsters....

Ouch. As for myself, I'm looking forward to Kerry surrendering his campaign to Bush early, rather than risk losing his bid for the presidency in the face of Bush's superior polling numbers.

Hey they are melting down over at DU. Even seen posts like "this was Kerry's to lose and it's ovah".

Ahhhhhhh music to my EARS. Every nasty demonstrator helps us, every poke at the Bush twins helps us, and if Kerry comes out with his attack dogs, he's toast. Heck, I think he's toast no matter what he does.

What is wrong with him? Why does he leave his campaign to WINDSURF??? Is he that arrogant?

No, no, no. Paraphrasing the brilliant Ann Coulter, Cleland would be insignificant as a war veteran, but he was fortunate enough to accidentally blow his limbs off in Vietnam rather than in Santa Barbara. His woulds were the result of mishandling munitions while delivering beer to a party in Vietnam, not from combat.

“Conservatism, we are told, is out-of-date. The charge is preposterous and we ought boldly to say so. The laws of God, and of nature, have no dateline. The principles on which the Conservative political position is based have been established by a process that has nothing to do with the social, economic and political landscape that changes from decade to decade and from century to century. These principles are derived from the nature of man, and from the truths that God has revealed about His creation. Circumstances do change. So do the problems that are shaped by circumstances. But the principles that govern the solution of the problems do not. To suggest that the Conservative philosophy is out of date is akin to saying that the Golden Rule, or the Ten Commandments or Aristotle's Politics are out of date. The Conservative approach is noth ing more or less than an attempt to apply the wisdom and experience and the revealed truths of the past to the problems of today.” – Barry Goldwater, The Conscience Of A Conservative, 1960.
