Well they do say if you got nothing nice to say then don’t say anything, so I’ll be brief. I just hope we don’t have coverage showing Clinton in his hospital bed imploring the faithful to “Win one for the Bubba”.

PS: I was tempted to call Dominos and send him a meat feast with extra cheese but I decided against it. :-)

im not comparing clinton to hitler. i am comparing the sadness i feel aobut him being in the hospital to the sadness i would feel if someone else i really detested was was in the hospital.

i am not in the business of treading on eggshells least i disturb someones karma about a president that most people in here dont really like that much in the first place. thats just silly!

i havent said anything blatantly mean or thoughtless.

The aftermath of this will be very interesting. Heart surgery can cause postoperative mental confusion that lasts for months or sometimes years. My father-in-law had triple bypass surgery last October, and following surgery he was confused, forgetful, disoriented, and cantankerous for a long time (and still isn't fully back to normal, mentally), and this has caused quite a problem for my mother-in-law. His thoracic surgeon says this is pretty common, and warned us before the surgery that this might happen.

Clinton might make some pretty weird speeches later on if he suffers such postoperative confusion.

I love the "timing is suspicious" comments. Unfortunately, I'll bet the Democrats don't get the joke.

They don't get it over at DU. They are posting excerpts from this thread. I also found this gem.

The vast right wing has finally taken it's toll on President Clinton Stress is an awful thing and I think President Clinton is a very sensitive man. For eight long years they drew his blood and it had to be very stressful. They way it affected his family, etc., had to have broken his heart. The way they tried to destroy his reputation, much the same way they are doing to Kerry right now, had to be a very bitter pill to swallow. His insides must have been churning. The press is now referring to his bad eating habits, etc. (of course) but I think they contributed to his illness more than the food he ate. I personally could never figure out how he had to stamina to keep on fighting. I love him and I'm angry at what they did to him. Today's news just brought back all the memories of how terrible he was treated. I couldn't bear it if we lose him.

His administration's Propaganda against the supposed "state" enemies was on the level of Joseph Gobels.

Right wing fanatics, NRA Goons, gun owning crazies etc.

Chest pains? Heart attack? By-pass surgery? Let's look at past history of someone who came into lots of money (as Clinton has mentioned on many occasions). Hank Gaithers got a BIG contract from the Celtics and promptly blew out his heart ODing on cocaine. I'm not saying this is the case, but brother Roger once said "he has a nose like a vacuum." Is it possible that never releasing his complete medical records was done because of a pre-disposition to cardiac occurrences? Spending time in Europe in recent months would still allow Clinton to say "I did not break the laws of THIS country." Would his status as ex-POTUS and Secret Service protection immunize him from the same scrutiny that ordinary citizens would receive if we re-entered the US? Do "Diplomatic Pouches" equal ex-pres luggage?

Echoing your sentiments for our former President Bill Clinton.

I'm not happy that he was ever our President either, and have had a lot to say about him here too, but I'm with the vast majority of FReepers don't wish ill health on anyone.

Though I wouldn't shed a tear to hear Saddam Hussein had a really bad case of hemorrhoids.

Must have been the culmination of three days of RNC starting with McCain.

The REAL question - will he go to a hospital with socialized medicine and wait six months for an any doctor or will he find the best private hospital with the best doctors?

Good question.
I wonder why he wasn't rushed to Canada.
Or Mexico.

Prayers for his health are in order, and I think it's a sure thing. After all, the Lord knows that man could use a few more decades of redeeming himself...and the Devil knows that man can still do a LOT more damage in this world. With both sides pulling for him, how can he fail?

Bet he's glad we don't have Canadian style single payer health care. He'd probably be waitlisted until along about next May. Unless, of course, he jumped que and flew to some free market haven to get care.

Of course, under Hillary's plan it would be even worse. His health alliance, responsible for enforcing global budget targets, would likely decide that an over 55 retiree doesn't qualify for major surgery. They'd medicate him for comfort and send him home. Must economize where possible, you know....

I only found out about Clinton (from this thread) about 10 minutes ago, but from what I have seen posted by the majority of you it makes me proud to be a FReeper. I am astonished at the amount of class and dignity the folks here have shown, and I'll join you in saying that despite disagreeing with everything this man stands for, I hope he gets better soon.

Years ago I attended the funeral of my neighbor. After the burial, the widow stood at the gravesite with her head bowed during the entire time it took for all the dirt to be shoveled back into the grave.

I finally approached her to offer some solace, saying 'I know you are going to miss him.'

She turned to me with a smile and said, 'Like hell! I just wanted to make sure the S.O.B. didn't come crawling out of the coffin before they covered him with dirt.'
