The same question was asked after the Holocaust. Where was God? But God gave man free will. Men killed those babies, not God.

You know, sometimes God has to slap us real hard across the face to get our attention.

Would you say that God was not there on Sept. 11, 2001? Or would you say that, for some of us, it was a reawakening toward God and our Country.

Some have fallen by the wayside and forgotten what happened. Some feel that God caused 9/11. Some feel that, we, as Americans, caused 9/11. Some feel that the War on Terror is just lie.

If you have any of these feelings, please, just go hide under a rock, take 2 aspirin, and maybe you will feel better in the morning. I doubt it.

THIS IS A WAKE UP CALL. REVEILLE. It's new day, and time to kick butt, as necesary.

AMEN.

RE: The good Archbishop

I'm surprised that you haven't learned the lessons of history.

I'm not. Refusal to even recognize historical facts is the defining intellectual characteristic of contemporary 'progressive' thought.

"History is so messy, and our hearts are so pure", being their consoling maxim.

"Where was God at Beslan?"

He's not allowed in schools, remember?

Below is a link to direct quotes from the Quran/Koran on this subject. They are taken from an official administrative complaint against the San Luis Coastal Unified School District. Violence advocated against infidels is not related to age but is for the sin of non-belief. http://www.blessedcause.org/complaint/Quran%20Koran%20Quotes.htm
Wow. That's scary. Not as much the Koran quotes (I've seen just as much hostility towards "others" in the Old Testament. Jericho, anyone? Wild bear let loose on 42 children?) but the argument from the complainers that pluralism is evil. They seem to really dislike the Constitution of the United States. By the way: I found nothing in those quotes that advocate killing infidel children, only general, vague hostility towards "unbelievers". The quotes themselves seem to be accurate, according to this searchable Koran site: http://www.islamicity.com/MOSQUE/ARABICSCRIPT/AYAT/8/8_55.htm By the way II: unsurprisingly, the Koran seem full of contradictions. Along with all the fury towards "unbelievers", there's this: 17:33 Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand qisas or to forgive): but let him nor exceed bounds in the matter of taking life; for he is helped (by the Law). 107:1-7 Seest thou one who denies the Judgment (to come)? Then such is the (man) who repulses the orphan (with harshness), And encourages not the feeding of the indigent. So woe to the worshippers Who are neglectful of their prayers, Those who (want but) to be seen (of men), But refuse (to supply) (even) neighbourly needs. 5:69 Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. In short, I'll go by the words of President Bush. Islam isn't evil, and the WoT shouldn't be construed as a war on Islam.

Believe what you want. It is literally against the law, in many Muslim countries, to worship as a Christian. Does that sound like a tolerant and peaceful religion? That's not so-called "extremists." That is the official policy of government in those countries.

The problem is Islam. You cannot separate it from the violence. Where are the moderates? Where is their indignation? The only help we get against the barbarians are from secular voices. We get nothing but excuses and blame from Islamic clerics.

President Bush's statements that Islam is a peaceful religion is a fiction. There is no evidence of that from the beginning of the cult and its violent founder.

It is uncomfortable for you and others to believe that Islam is evil in and of itself, but it is true. It is the worship of a false god and it defends the killing of innocents in the name of a false god. That is not something new. They nearly conquered Europe using that violence and they seem to be on the road in the same direction.

You seem comfortable with the moral equivalency argument by pointing to the Old Testament. What Jewish or Christian movement today slaughters innocents simply for their unbelief? There is no moral equivalency. PERIOD.

People should not deceive themselves. Islam is a threat to peace everywhere it has spread.

We are fighting this false religion whether you choose to believe it or not. We didn't start it. They did.

Where was God when this happened?

The Muslim "god" was all smiles since this god advocates EVIL.

The Judeo Christian God EXPECTS people to STOP EVIL. The Judeo Christian God gives us choices. Some day, hopefully soon ..., the Judeo God will return and give evil people and their evil god their just deserts. Never wonder about the Judeo Christian God ... He will right EVERY wrong and the punishment will be for eternity.

You can say that again. The harsh reality of evil, of mass homicide, suffering, etc., is covered in the Bible. One wonders where this boy studied the faith.

"The new Bishops don't want references to the devil, hell and the impact of the devil on man."

This is true of a lot of Protestant heirarchies, and yet they wonder that membership is plummeting. People need absolutes. If their faith is to be firm and their church a fortress, the message can't be all sweetness and light.
OTOH, Islam and other cults feed that craving for moral absolutes in the extreme, and their membership grows. Time for Christians to reengage evil and Satan and speak the truth.

"Time for Christians to reengage evil and Satan and speak the truth.'

The non judgemental plank of the PC church as we both note could be the fat lady singing for the demise of the churches who abide by the non judgemental plank.

"My prayer is Jesus returns soon."

Amen, and at the same time I say, "Thank you, Jesus for coming to me and being here in my heart now." I also know that His body is here - we are his body. When he taught his disciples, "Pray like this", he said to the Father, "Your kingdom come...on earth...as it is in heaven" and I know that the kingdom is here, now, even as it is in heaven. I believe the days are short, and we shall soon see His kingdom established for ALL to see, whether they want it here or not. Neither Islam, nor Mr Kerry, nor Mr Bush nor any other man or religion or organization or government can stop the establishment of His Kingdom. It is already here, and soon, I think, to be made visible!

Under Williams, the Anglican Church and the Episcopal church to many of us seems to been on a PC move to minimize our old testament foundation.

Each Sunday, we have a reading from the Old Testament and a Psalm from David to be sung.

About 3-4 years ago I noted that the Old Testament readings were being replaced by what we would call PC New Testament readings. I commented about this to some friends originally from the UK. They said that their relatives and friends in the UK felt that Williams and his bishops were removing the old testament readings in the UK as they were too judgemental and harsh.

Now here's the ultimate irony . . . the religion that is actually based on the "judgmental old testament" (ie, Judaism) is considered the most liberal religion! Does that make any sense at all?

Where in the sam hill to liberal Jews get their notions that the "old testament" is nothing but brotherhood and tolerance? It's absolutely astounding! And as a further irony, liberals who hate the Bible concentrate all their ire and anger on chr*stianity. The Jews mean nothing to them except an example of "diversity" and "freedom of religion!"

It's about time that people who hate "racist, sexist, speciesist, homophobic" Bible ultimately don't have their argument with chr*stianity, but with Judaism. But modern Judaism's image is so far removed from Joshua that no one seems to make the connection!

At the turn of the last century "Reform Judaism" actually boasted that it was closer to chr*stianity than was Orthodox Judaism. Now "Reform" actually claims to be more "Jewish" than the Orthodox because they challenge the beliefs of the goyim (ie, creation, the Ten Commandments) more than the Orthodox do.

The tragedy of the past two thousand years is that the wrong people have been trying to emulate Joshua, while the people who are supposed to emulate him have been either withdrawing from society or promoting liberalism. No wonder the world is in such a mess!

Thanks for your excellent summary and analysis of the current situation and the past 2000+ years.

Yes. Well said and keenly observed.

Refusal to face reality--denial and delusion--define contemporary "progressive" thought. The belief that "our hearts are so pure" requires denial.

That's right. Christian and Jewish societies have outgrown, and learned to ignore, the loopy lifestyle requirements and endorsing of violence found in their sacred books. We don't drag disobedient children to be stoned in the public square, we have nothing against cotton/polyester T-shirts, allow divorce, etc, etc... If we could do that, so can they. Meanwhile, go after people who commit crimes. If a gang plans bombings, find them and take them out before they can, or, failing that, after. If a nation's rulers pose a danger, go after this nation, not after all nations with the same dominant religion. A holy-war mindset will bring NOTHING of good.
