If this all checks out and is verified, this is as clear a case for a posthumous award of the Gold Star Medal of the Hero of Russian Federation as I have ever read.

The truth is stories like this renew and solidify my faith. In the midst of evil and horror there is love, there is beauty, there is G-d.
I've seen this written so many times on this thread, and I'm sure we all did it independently of one another. It must be true, then.
url please?
Thank you.
We had one of these guys as well, he was a kind old guy from the old school days. loved kids, but was a discipline guy, and really cared about the elem. kids. Later on I found out he was an athlete in his youth.
Society needs these older guys involved...
There are many worse ways to spend your final years than spending time with little kids playing volleyball.....
prayers for this teacher and his family
God was there, no matter what the Archbishop of Canterbury thought.
For which one? I got it from a Greek news site. Just google the name of the Greek teacher to find it.
Oh my. What a wonderful man he was. May he be in heaven now.
There is nothing more honorable than giving your life for another.
My father is 71.
He competes in triathalons, runs at least five miles a day and is the fittest person I know.
He substitute teaches, in art, his passion, and I am sad to say he is going to the doctor this week because he's suddenly feeling tired.
Maybe life is catching up to him. I pray it's nothing serious.
He loves life and the children he has taught in his long career. I know he would do the same as this heroic angel.
Good one.
You know, soldiers get the Congressional Medal of Honor for doing that, now that`s a hero.
That article is so heartwrenching I just cried. I never cry over things i read. But I just did. God sends his really fine creations to where He feels they will be needed. That is what He did in His Divine Wisdom when He put that Gentleman in that school. God Bless him and all those innocent children.

This elderly teacher was a modern day example of that particular biblical principle. Usually you see examples in war, when one soldier gives his life to save his fellows.
I wonder how many children owe their lives to this brave soul.
It's good to see such a heart-warming story of heroism and sainthood in the midst of so much terror and hatred.
Yanis Kanidis: Vjecnaja pamjat! Memory eternal!
Angels are among us and this brave soul has earned a very blessed reward. I hope we never forget him. He deserves at least a statue in that town.
May he rest in peace, the righteous man that he was.
What a saint! I'd love to see a picture of this brave soul.
Amen!
