Since the memos are typewritten, I can't see any use of bringing in a handwriting analyst. So silly.

Mr. Matley more than likely IS the AHAF. The library is in his house.

Definitely outed as being a handwriting analyst solely, with no expertise whatsoever relevant to determining the validity of typewritten documents. See: PoliPundit .

The American Handwriting Foundation (AHAF) is an organization that provides information and services to its members with the goal of enriching their effectiveness as graphologists. The AHAF Board wants to extend its reach of services to members by providing this site. At this point in time (April, 1998) we are making our initial efforts to do this and plan to improve our offerings as we gain experience and learn from our members about services they would like.

A CBS Exectutive just said on OReilly (Tony Snow sitting in) that 60 Minutes has a pristine record of getting the FACTS and the Bloggers, guys in thier pajamas sitting in their living room have no credability.

He was VERY pompus and condecending, and twisted the facts to make it sound like 60 Minutes has the ultimate word on the documents.

It is clear that 60 Minutes is going to spin this and hope that it goes away.

Not an expert???? Just a librarian?

He's listed as a Forensic Document Examiner at http://www.handwritingfoundation.org/pros/qd.htm

He's not actually a Librarian unless he holds the professional library degree, the Masters of Library Science (MLS). Real Librarians dislike those who give themselves that title simply because they tend a roomful of books --much like someone with a box of bandaids calling himself a nurse.

Maybe in a court room, but the public isn't a court room. A lot (many many) voters are smart enough to see that handwriting is simply not an issue here. Actually, if the voters discover that this guy is an expert at muddying the waters, that really works against CBS.

THE SIGNATURES OF KILLIAN ON THE CBS MEMOS IS DIFFERENT FROM THE SIGNATURES OF KILLIAN ON EVERY OTHER DOCUMENT RELEASED BY THE WH, THE TANG, AND THE PENTAGON!!!! If you could see me now I am jumping up and down and pounding my fist on the wall (Oops! make that through the wall). I have been saying this for two days. Look for yourself:

http://tinypic.com/4l1tx

Handwriting analysis is important because the signature on the CBS memos, even if it is an "original" signature, is not that of Lt. Col Killian. Why doesn't anyone else realize that this is the smoking gun. It is unarguable. The memos are phony because the alleged author, Lt.Col. Killian, is not the one who signed them.

PLEASE, tell me if I am missing something. And tell Dan Rather he has to pay to fix my wall!

Marcel Matley: There is nothing in the questioned document that would support any finding of forgery. And the things that are brought forth - the apparent fragmentation - and those things are explained by the fact that we have a deteriorated copy and that fact that the man was under some emotional stress at the time.

Robert Stack: Marcel Matley is convinced that the other experts are wrong. Q1 on the left side represents the "suicide" note. K1 through K11 on the right side represents the known samples.

Robert Stack: Did Vince Foster write the "suicide" note? Were these the final thoughts of a man overwhelmed by the cold realities of politics in Washington or, as critics of the Clinton administration contend, is the note part of an elaborate coverup?

In the end there are still many, many questions to be answered. The ongoing investigation of both the Whitewater scandal and Vince Foster suicide in all likelihood will continue for some time to come. Given the explosive political nature of the case, it is quite possible we will never know the entire story behind the death of Vince Foster.
