Since the law is Federal,am I correct that the law sunsets nationwide at midnight Eastern time?
Unfortunatly i live in a communist state and we have our own state laws which are written even harsher than the federal. So i will be absent from the celebration. The M4 i am planning on buying will have to be the old version. I really could have used a collapsable buttstock, but oh well. Hopefully the older models will be flooded to my state so i can get a good deal on one.
Oh Boy! Now I can run out and buy one of them deadly semi-automatic assault Uzis and AK-47s with the extra deadly bayonet lug and flash hider, just like the MSM is so scared of! Oh, wait, I've already got a gun safe full of them. Let's build a big bonfire out of those ugly thumbhole stocks while we read editorials about the streets being "awash" with assault weapons".
Has anyone heard if the manufactures have shifted into high gear for this?

The 1986 law had some benefits for gunowners, but they were wrapped around the massive tyrannical turd that essentially banned rifles of the type carried by footsoldiers.
I'm going to run outside at the hour, and go pick up my fair share of all the assault rifles that they promised me would be flooding the street!

The term magazine is what you seek for this component of a modern firearm. Gun-grabbing journalists use the terms incorrectly, believing that they're interchangeable. Just wanted to ensure no FReepers fall into their terminology trap. ;-)
