BULL PUCKEY...
Yeah, and the public. Same old same old, only now the public has a way to voice their opinions.
I am calling my affiliate tomorrow and letting them know how I feel about see-BS using forgeries to try and influence the election of the President. This is pathetic.
Dan is truly stuck in the past, where news anchors were the news gatekeepers.
CBS doesn't give a rat's patootie about what this'll do to its affiliates...
"The 60 MINUTES Wednesday broadcast reported that it obtained six documents from the personal files of Lt. Col. Killian"
THEY HAD THE SIX ALL ALONG.
If CBS is unwilling to identify who gave them the documents, they are currently perpetuating a smear by not letting the whole story (the TRUTH) out.
That source must really be someone interesting. CBS will self-destruct rather than give him/her up...
Speaking of Bob Scieffefer, I know National Review Online has editorialized that he should not be the moderator of the debate because of the issue with CBS. Just another thought, I believe his brother, Tom, was a partner of W's in the Texas Rangers baseball team. That might be another reason not to have him moderate. Although Schieffer wouldn't be pro W, I remember some of his newscasts in the 80's during Reagan. Never saw so much venom. As a professional broadcaster myself I was appalled. Couldn't believe the network would let him get away with it. But they did.
That should read "She has a vast and virulent bias against President Bush"
My suggestion- slam the affiliates with emails, let them know we're not buying the trite and they'll turn it back on the home network...most of the city local newsrooms are NOT corrupt and they don't want to be brought down by this...
Sounds like the person who obtained the documents is being accused of stealing them. Read it again.
Faked doc. STOP RIGHT THERE! Hand over your press cards now. The door slamming you in the butt is also "essentially true".
I love the, "Has not been challenged remark" Why would the White House dream of responding when CBiaS is self-destructing on its own quite nicely. However, I will respond on their behalf:
Barnes is a liar, he has given contradictory stories, even his own daughter has acknowledged that Barnes told him that he never tried to get President Bush in the Guard.
Barnes own political career came to a scandelous end and he has had his own brushes with the law.
Barnes is one of the biggest fundraisers for Kerry in the country.
Barnes told his daughter that he is writing a book that will lead with the "Bush incident"
A senior member of the guard at the time has stated there was no waiting list for those eligible for pilot training, so Bush didn't need any assistance.
Even if what Barnes said was true, he has never claimed that anyone from the Bush family approached him, or asked anyone else to do so.
Of course, you would never know one of these facts if you only watched CBias.
Need to make sure the experts cited in here get a copy of this quickly. At least two of them could take legal action against CBS for telling affiliates that they "misrepresented their conversations with CBS".
"I think there is no sense in forming an opinion when there is no evidence
to form it on.
If you build a person without any bones in him he may look fair enough to the eye,
but he will be limber and cannot stand up; and I consider that evidence is the bones of an opinion."
- Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc, Mark Twain
She's said she thinks the memos are fake, and that's the important thing. Her comments regarding what she thought Killian's feelings were are weak "proof" indeed, and anyway contractdicted by the record.
Too true, the a local talk radio host here in Seattle, John Carlson of KVI 570, knew Mapes when they both worked at KIRO, and has reported her to be very, very liberal, and the type that would grind an ax.
Citing Mapes is tantamount to admitting conflict of interest.
Did he really say this?
I thought he said that all these signatures were from the same person.
That's a different statement.
