Blogger Who Faulted CBS Documents Is Conservative Activist (L.A Times RATS out Buckhead!)
L.A Times ^

WASHINGTON — It was the first public allegation that CBS News used forged memos in its report questioning President Bush's National Guard service — a highly technical explanation posted within hours of airtime citing proportional spacing and font styles.

But it did not come from an expert in typography or typewriter history as some first thought. Instead, it was the work of Harry W. MacDougald, an Atlanta lawyer with strong ties to conservative Republican causes who helped draft the petition urging the Arkansas Supreme Court to disbar President Clinton after the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the Times has found.

Really doesn't matter that Buckhead is a Republican activist... nor that he doesn't have credentials as a document analyst. He, and other Freepers and Bloggers pointed out and visually showed discrepancies so glaring that absolute laymen like myself could see and understand them and duplicate them on our own computers.

"I think CA law applies, because the LA Times was rummaging through FR's servers for the information.
"

I was thinking CBS did the probing, found the info on Buckhead and passed it on to LA Times. They have no interest in the truth, but will make an exception to get the man that will go down in history as the man who went to bat for a sitting president in wartime and stopped their fraud and brought down cBS and Dan Rather.

God Bless you Buckhead. America owes you a great debt!

I've always figured I shouldn't say anything on FR that I wouldn't say in public. Who cares if they figure out who I am, I'm not doing anything wrong except making too many typos.

Who on FR isn't a conservative activist?

How low can the LA Slimes go? Even lower, I'd wager. But this is outrageous! Free Republic members include many attorneys. Obviously they're all conservative, probably Republican, and most likely activists by the Slimes' definition. FR also includes M.D.'s, Ph.D's, journalists, a contingent of talkshow hosts and a host of high-ranking active and retired military personnel. Any one of these people could be "outed" and made to look like some sort of RNC operative.

Publishing personal information about any member of this, or any other forum, without the express consent of the private citizen who has every expectation of privacy is wrong on so many levels. If there's a cause of action against the L.A. Times for this blatant abuse of ethics (*cough*), I hope it will be aggressively pursued. Even the DUmmies should be appalled by the digital brownshirts at the Slimes. Any one of you could be next.

You're right. One should never give out personal info.
----
But, ya know what? Even if you never do it, some slimeball folks know how to find out. Happened to me on a different forum.

I feel pretty safe here at FR.

I also would like to know how they got Buckhead's name. I thought our identities were secure. What's up with that?

Modesty prevents me from commenting on what you're wearing right now :)

Well, at least I now know a good lawyer in Georgia should I need one.

I agree with you Tiki. I pray that I am wrong, but vindictive lefty loyalists are rabid right now. Instead of looking at CBS, Terry Mc., the DNC, etc. for culpability in memogate, they are tearing up the signs of little 3 year old girls, and keying our Bush-stickered cars, and slugging RNC sign-holders at demonstrations. Buckhead has opened the floodgates to exposing the left wing media and all their distortions, and rather than face the truth, they'd probably resort to...well, who knows what.

Until The Times identified him by piecing together information from his postings over the past two years,

Can you imagine what the Times could accomplish if they had spent that amount of time and effort on something useful, like fact checking their own stories and sources?

I agree totally. I was thinking about Buckhead yesterday while I was out and about driving, just pondering his situation and what he must be going thru. And you know that the Slimes wants to instill fear in the collective power of the people online. Their future depends on it.

Perhaps it's time for the public display of someone's postings be limited to 6 months or something

IF you're uncomfortable about such things, you may be in the wrong place. I'm more proud than ever to be known as a Freeper(albeit a very minor one). But it's like being an American. E PLURBIS UNUM

"We are about to witness the CATASTROPHIC EXTINCTION of the MSM . . . it's like that one night when we turned on the TV and saw all the people in Germany suddenly tearing down the Berlin Wall . . ."

Wonderful analogy! Freedom of information tears down the walls of the oppressors! Thank you!

Same thing happened to a friend of mine. Someone on a forum we posted to,with opposite opinion, hacked into the sites server and got the IP's for almost everyone he hated. Then sent , emails, and called a few of them at home! We found out who he was also, through the forum owners, and he was sited for harassment, but only had to pay a fine. You talk about scary! So anything is possible. This was several years ago, and I thank God I was on AOL dial up at the time!

Keep your facts straight, cut out the bullshit, and there should be no problems with the fact that thousands of educated, experienced, and opinionated people read and dissect everything you do.

Bravo!

'Guess I'll have to call for a congressional investigation.'

and while you're at it, add Sandy Berger to the list.

If you do a Google search for dear old Sandy, the latest articles come up dated JULY 21,!!!!!!!

I am tempted to ask the White House if they have some super secret plans for Sandy that I am not aware of , otherwise we would please very much like to go ON THE FREAKIN WARPATH over the lack of information on this FELON.

It's not easy but Buckhead's identity can be found from his old posts. I just checked. They did this solely to intimidate a private citizen, and they have to pay for that. ... ... Any ideas?

Well, well, we may have a new tort here what with trespass on the private hyperspace of individual citizens, not to mention the manifestly malicious intent.
