Matt Drudge just announced that CBS will admit, maybe as soon as tomorrow, that they were 'deceived' and are launching an intensive, in-depth investigation.
My research into the command link for the memos will not be affected one bit by this news. An utterly disgraced story was dumped on the American people as truth and it needs to be run down. Too little, too late MSM.
If CBS wanted to negotiate with Burkett they wouldn't have sent Dan.

If Rather and company come out and say that the documents are fake, but we still think or feel that their accusations are correct, that would be a new low for journalistic standards. The "I can't prove it, but I believe it" argument would dramatically demonstrate that Rather wasn't taken on path he didn't want to travel. Which in turn, we prove that CBS has a huge liberal bias. Surely, CBS wouldn't allow Dan to completely sink CBS?

CBS is sending a trial balloon.
1. Right wingers (acting anonymously)created documents and fed them to Burkett.
2. Burkett believed them BECAUSE THEY ACURATELY RECREATE THE MEMOS HE SAW IN THE TRASHBIN. He is unimpeachable because he is the only person to have seen the originals.
3. CBS believed it because Burkett was so sure. The quality of the documents was so poor, they relied on Burkett's memory of the CONTENT.
4. Right wingers identified them sooo quickly because they created them in the first place.
5. CBS actually has done quality reporting because they have exposed the hoax that almost fooled them.
This, I believe, will be Blather's conclusion in his interview with Burkett.
I hope he tries that. Pulling phone records is incredibily trivial these days. I'd love nothing more than to catch Rather in yet another lie.

I doubt that CBS will even make reference to Buckhead. The Leftist corporate "mainstream" (sic) media is VERY scared about legitimizing either Conservatives, Free Republic, or the nebulous "blogosphere."
