On an official school website, Harvard University had a .gif of a chimp morphing into President Bush. After FR got on the case, it has been removed.
The .gif had been in the upper right corner of the website. In Quicktime, here is what was removed.
This morning, I phoned the office of Harvard President Lawrence Summers. They referred me to the news office. I also phoned the department, and an assistant to Professor Mark Hauser had admitted that it was there, had been removed, but that he could not further comment.
Dr. Mark Hauser of the Primate Cognitive Neuroscience Laborator returned my call a short time ago. He was annoyed at "the stupid emails" with which they were inundated.
According to Hauser, "This whole discussion is pathetic."
Why was that .gif on the site, you ask? Well, Dr. Hauser said that it was "an example of evolution." He uses it in class. They have used it for three years.
No, Mark Hauser, you are pathetic. You and the Bush haters are pathetic.

Was it an official website or just some professor's website? To call it official is a stretch even though it's hosted on Harvard's server. They can't police every professor's webpage.
