McDermott could rape a 12 year old girl in broad daylight and still get reelected.

(No, I am not accusing him of any such thing, just saying that his district is so safe he would still win if the primary was over and they didn't Toricelli him)

Pres. Bush needs to make it crystal clear in the debates that it is the DEMOCRATS in the House who are pushing the draft that the MTV commercials are scaring the clueless young with at the moment. I might even say that the US military does not think that the MTV crowd would be an asset to our mission. That ought to dent the self image that these little spoiled whiners have.

HR 163 is a Charlie Rangel bill. It is sponsored by 14 liberal Democrats. Not One Republican!

Most of the 14 DEMS are also members of the Black Caucus.

The Bill is still alive and well. Presently it is at the DOD for "review".

I have posted this before, and some have disagreed, but IMHO, if Kerry wins we are going to see this Bill back on the floor of Congress and Rangel and his gang pushing Kerry for approval. Calling in their chit for this group getting the black vote out for Kerry.

As a side note to my rant, this is another racial issue that is really part of the DNC strategy.

The FACTS need to be put in front of the public. Perhaps an TV AD stating the history of this Bill and the FACTS could be meaningful to the Bush Campaign.

If this gets legs for the Kerry Campaign, there are going to be mothers and college kids going to the polls for Kerry. Ironic, isn't it? They are playing right into the hands of the Liberal Left to vote against the draft before they vote for it!

Granted, there's the military issues. Been there, done that at Camp Pendleton. True enough.

But there's also the perspective they'd gain of the real world where people get killed & etc. before they hear from some hippie at college how bad the military is and how peaceful the rest of the world is.

Right now all they hear and experience is one side and one view. Is this balanced? Maybe not. Is it better? I think so.

My thanks for your service.

Right now all they hear and experience is one side and one view

True, I see your point. My problem is with the concept of indoctrination to begin with. In essence, the government is deciding that it doesn't like the mindset of the people it purports to serve, and sets out to change it, by force, to one more suitable to its desires. Is this not the very definition of social engineering? Are we to trust the very same government that created this problem through indoctrination with yet more powers of indoctination? Is the purpose of the military defense, or social engineering? This problem is highlighted by China's use of the military for exactly what you suggest - college students there spend a year in their military so they won't be so hostile to their communist government.

I find this to be contrary to a theory of a government that serves not rules its people. Free People will decide what thoughts, views and values serve them best. We are individuals endowed with self determination, not farm animals to be manipulated by masters.

That said, the military certainly can be a place for wayward individuals to improve themselves and find discipline. But they must ask for it.

"It's the DEMOCRATS who sponsored legislation for a draft. How can Kerry accuse President Bush?"

Besides Kerry accusing him, there are those who LOATH President Bush with such passion that even when it is pointed out to them who is sponsoring the bill they will say Oh! then turn around in the next posting saying Bush and Cheney's Draft Legislation.

Such loathing is liable to give them an ulcer.

"I think a lot of young folks would benefit by gaining the perspective of serving their country for two years....

My brother was drafted into the Army (Paratroopers) back in 1959 right after his divorce and he had two children.

He says it is the best thing that ever happened to him and he thinks it would be beneficial to all young people.

I don't think he would be for a draft though.

Those who hate Bush are pushing this issue because they know it upsets people. I have friends who have sons in the service now and they say that most of the services have all the enlistments they need. If they didn't they wouldn't let so many out because of minor issues.

Maybe we need to get a good letter writing campaign to MTV ... they are promoting the idea of a draft and Kerry (lied) is reinforcing it to the kids. For most 18-21 year olds this is a SINGLE ISSUE ELECTION and that is the DRAFT! It is the dems that support the draft, not the Bush Administration.

I oppose compulsory public education in its' current form and would readily support vouchers. This would address the indoctrination issue extant in our schools.

However, liberty and freedom are not a free ride. The people in the WTC found that out. They weren't drafted or indoctrinated yet they still died on behalf of their country.

Serving your country in the military or in a suitable/acceptable public service for objectors is no more wrong than making a child go to school to learn to be a good citizen. Or making you pay taxes. Its the price we pay to live in this country.

I spent a fair part of 1991 & 1992 under a 24 hour notice of recall and could've gone off to war. I had no problem with this and I planned for it.

250,000 lazy-assed freaks found the time to protest at the RNC. Their right to do this is secured by the soldiers and the President they hate. I don't think it's too much to ask of these freaks to at least fight a forest fire or clean up a neighborhood in service to their country when other people are dying (not all of their free will) for the same country.

It won't pass. Kerry is unlikely to mention it in debate, so he doesn't end up Al-Gorizing. Even our malaprop Prez would eat him alive on this one.

But, if you think about it, maybe not a bad idea to get a few 18-20s in Charlie's district up at 6:00 AM and doing something.

Exactly. If John F*ckin' is foolish enough to raise the charge again during the debates, President Bush should fire back with, "There you go again, Senator. The truth is its YOUR own party that wants to bring back the draft. Sponsors of a draft move include Jim McDermott and Charlie Rangel. I'm surprised you didn't know who is pushing it and here you are needlessly scaring the kids. That's low even for you, Mr. Kerry."

Did my part. Circulated this little notice to everyone in my email address book. Get enough people to sit up and take notice and the demoncRATS blame game will go down the tubes. Mainstream media fails again.

I just heard pretty much the same from my step daughter when she came to visit last week, that Bush was going to reinstate the draft. I asked her where in the hell she heard that, "just some friends from school". No doubt they heard it from their professors. A few years back when she had just started attending in North Carolina, 1st thing she calls us up in a panic to tell us that Pell Grants are to be discontinued by order of President Bush. She was positive it was true, as ALL of her teachers were telling her this

This is the same school that, the following year, all freshman were required to take a semester studying Islam. I didn't get this from her, I got it from the news. She doesn't go there anymore.

"Everybody in this room who is 17 years old should know that the likelihood of a draft in a second Bush administration is almost a certainty," McDermott said.

That is word for word exactly what that deranged POS told a north Seattle high school class almost two years ago. I forget what he was supposed to talk about, but the kids were filed into an autotorium to listen to him blather on about something, instead he launched into this anti Bush anti war tirade to kids as young as 14 - my son's age. At least my son knows how to tell a worm ridden brain diseased commie charletan when he sees one, but I heard it scared the crap out've a bunch of those kids.

Good job.

Not only mainstream, but even Drudge has ignored a ping to counter that insidious headline.

Me thinks we've got another O'Reilly in Drudge - jealous, petty, ungrateful, egotistical, self-important.
