Yes, I got annoyed when I heard Bush pass up chance after chance to absolutely bisect Kerry - the one that annoyed my most was when Kerry went on and on about the troops not having body armor and Bush didn't immediately mention that Kerry had voted against giving it to them - but he was trying to stay "above the fray", so to speak. Look Presidential, don't sink to Kerry's level, you get the idea.

I guess so, but it was annoying. Maybe it was OK to the mushy middle, but I don't think they even know about Kerry's vote against the armor funding. I don't know how Kerry could say that with a straight face, though.

Gen Franks just nailed kerry on his statement about diversion of men and other resources from Afghanistan to Iraq. Says both Kerry and knight - Ridder were incorrect.....

Alan Colmes is trying very hard to get Gen Franks to change his statement and Franks is holding Strong!!!!

He is very nervous about a Kerry as CIC!

Hey, there are at least one hundred FReepers who could have handled Kerry better.

Bush should have called in John O'neil...He mopped Kerry up! But, then of course Bush would be linked to the Swifties.

"when Kerry went on and on about the troops not having body armor and Bush didn't immediately mention that Kerry had voted against giving it to them"

YES YES I was thinking the same darn tootin thing!! I was screaming at my T.V for Bush to hammer back Kerry's vote against armoring our troops! Also I didn't think it was a good idea for Bush to say he reads the casualty reports daily!! It makes it seem like we're losing troops every single day! But the good news is there's still 2 more debates left.

2. Kerry said he've give Iran nuclear fuel

What was the context of this? I amy have missed it due to putting kids to bed...

He said he would give them the fuel for their nuclear power program, and I believe John Edwards had said it before. IIRC, this is how North Korea got it's program going; promise it's just for power, then Oops! The rods accidentally fell into the nuclear warhead machine.

I think there will definitely be some ads coming out showing Kerry in this debate saying he would give the fuel to Iran, with text (chyron) of Iran's leaders saying they will destroy America. I think part of the strategy of this debate was to allow Kerry to set himself up. That he wants to give nuclear fuel to a country trying to build nuclear bombs so they can wipe Israel and the US off the map is a big one to have stepped into!

I wanted to read through all the posts before I gave my opinion on tonight, because I was hoping that someone else would have made the point before me.

Some folks have gotten caught up in the style argument and forgetting about substance. In this single debate, Kerry said Saddam was not a threat, then later he said he WAS a threat. It does not matter how smooth Kerry looked while he was standing there lying, he LIED.

As Rush said, the media would give Kerry the nod tonight no matter what happened, so get over it. I think you will find over the next few days however, is that Kerry will NOT move up in the polls, because no matter how well he is able to wiggle out of answering a question, he is an unlikable SOB who cannot connect with the majority of America.

Did Bush knock him out? No, I don't think so. I think that Kerry has disappointed many Democrats by attempting to suggest that he would try to win the war instead of pull out. I think Bush scored on Kerry's denigration of the coalition, but overall, I would call the debate a draw, and based on that, it was a victory for Bush.

Alan Colmes just got ripped a new one by Tommy Franks. Colmes looked like such a fool, trying to catch Tommy Franks up on moving resources from Afghanistan to Iraq.

Tommy Franks is helping to hammer home W's points. Great. And Rudy Guiliani did the same thing earlier.

Man...there are a lot of usernames these days I don't know.

I go back and look at some of the old threads 4-5 years ago and usually at least 25% no longer post.

You've survived the attrition.

Okay I can finally give my 2 cent's. This was a disaster for Bush -- you can spin it anyway you want but truth is truth. Bush stumbled and fumbled. His refusal to challenge Kerry made him look as if he couldn't come up with anything original to say. If this debate was supposed to be Bush's strongest area then he's in real serious trouble with 2 more debate especially with a townhall and domestic issues coming up.

Bush didn't lose any core votes tonight but he didn't win any either. My gut feeling all along said tonight would be a disaster for Bush and I was right(not that that make me feel any better --in fact I'm just heartbroken over it). When the polls come out; if Bush has lost 5-6 points my gut tells me this election is over. In fact I think Bush may have lost it tonight.

Bash me all you want to but in all reality Bush looked a lot like his dad did in '92 trying to fighting off Clinton --and that didn't go well. Not saying he was disengaged but he just didn't defend himself very well. And Kerry lied just like Clinton did in 1992 but the perception is what killed Bush 41 and it may very well do in 43.

I pray I'm dead wrong but as Luke Skywalker would say, "I have a bad feeling about this."

Does anyone have a link to the ABC News Now live video stream? The URL I had is now dead.

Those of you who get broadband from certain providers can watch it for free through your ISP's home page, but the URLs are generally open to everyone. (I know Comcast subscribers get it.)

Help!

You mean Kerry was prepared to say, any damn thing without being honest or necessarily have the truth..or facts....how can one win with those traits?

Oh, you moron... you selfish moron. Folks here alreayd KNOW about Kerry and what a jerk he is... but if you want to slow down this discussion with your graphics I have to wonder about YOUR political leanings... I mwan, if you want to slow down our republican/conservative chat, are you a democRAT? Because your selfish attitude and actions are helping them, not us.

What sticks in my mind about this debate is Kerry saying we should have to pass a global test before acting preemptively. I hope the President's campaign hits that phrase hard in the ad campaign.

He's our president and he made that clear.
POTUS won this big time.
Kerry looked dour, sour and prissy.
ONLY pundits who want a horse race and
democrats in Kerry's corner, think it was close.

You were a memberf of somes SCHOOL debate team and THAT,you imagine, qualifies YOU in some way or another? ROTFLMAOPIMP

Look, this is nothing at all akin to some high school debate;it isn't even on par with the Yale debate society, nor the one at Oxford...which is THE premier debate club in the world. This isn't even a real debate, for crying out loud and hasn't been since the Lincoln-Douglas Debates.

In 2000,everyone said that algore won the debates, right after each debate.WHO WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT?

Case closed.
