Debates are not in the least relevent to the outcome of the election, the devil is in the details, Kerry has shown the intelligent minds what he is made of, he has no moral value,
the list of lies the man has spoken in the pre-debate is astonding to the mind.

All the newbies seem to be attracted to these kinds of threads. All they do is talk about how bad Bush sucked and how even the "strongest supporters" wish we had a different nominee and that all the Bush supporters they know have either switched to Kerry or won't vote.

Well, guess we'll know reasonably soon.

I'm thinking of letting some Freepers jump off a cliff. If they commit suicide we'll then have calm to analyze the internals when posted.

I still want proof. Any poll with 1% undecided sounds suspect. I would think CNN would be screaming about this but I have been watching and nothing.

I said 5 presidents not every term.

Clinton lost to Bush in the first debate, Bush lost to Gore in the First debate, Mondale lost to carter in there first debate. Screaming doom and gloom from one debate is stupid and reflects badly on FR.

Democrats poll better on weekends. It is a well known fact.

As to why that happens to be the case, I'll let you figure it our for yourself.

Not surprised.

It wasn't so much that W was awful, it was more that F'n appeared normal and almost likable. Most of the undecideds were people who were upset about Iraq, but did not trust or like Kerry personally.

He won them over. It will be tough to get them back. This will be a dogfight that goes down to the wire and either side can win it.

Also let me point out that even if the poll was true it only shows a tie.

they should have known that when they got Leherer they were gonna get biased questions.

Given this President has been attacked daily since the day after the elction in 2000, youd think they would be prepared for bias and hostility.

Listen man DON'T get your shorts in a wad. Do you have any idea what this man has been thru in the past 3 years?

I could see he was terribly tired and drained, GW has aged 10 years in the past two.

Remember, that he and he alone has got to shoulder the responsibility for our troops and the safety of this Nation. And to have a miserable little manicured twit like Kerry make accusations of a wrong war and insinuate that the President is to blame for the death of the troops etc. just really pees me off.

I could see the hurt in GW's face and I know it cut thru his heart like a knife.

And now, to believe that half of this country wants this turd as their next president just absolutely makes me sick to my stomach.

As far as I'm concerned, I may even enjoy watching these simple minded, self centered people get their just rewards when they get the President of their choice, as they will deserve what he will bring to them. I'm 71 y/o seen combat in Korea 51-52 and two tours in VN in the sixties. So don't have that much to lose myself. Hopefully I will be able to get my family out, before the need to meet our attacker in the street of our cities.

Oh, there are a number of people looking to sow doubt and despair. They are likely not happy that they are being challenged.

I say, SHOW ME THE INTERNALS!! LOL

I don't think these numbers are good for Kerry in the long run. High numbers for President Bush were causing a danger of sending some of our voters to "sleep" on election day, making them believe that he'll win anyway and not think their vote matters. Numbers like these help light a fire under them.

Poll numbers will get somewhat closer to reality right before the election, so if nothing else so the pollsters can cheer that "we called it correctly".

Remember that many undecided who do vote don't even start looking seriously at the election until one month to two weeks before the election, if that early.

It's not just that he appeared timid, he appeared stupefyingly mired in phrases such as 'it's hard work' (Iraq), 'my opponent changes his positions.' As Nordlinger said, he appeared to be all of the things his critics accuse him of being.

He stood there with pursed lips and furrowed brow, and still couldn't defend his case for the Iraq war beyond soundbites that have been regurgitated, and regurgitated, and regurgitated.

I'm not the least bit exaggerating when I say that if you put me in a $500 suit, a $200 pair of shoes, hair done up real nice and good (to put it in the vernacular), I could have beat the pants of John Kerry, not that I'd want to, mind you.

It was really embarrassing. And I like President Bush, I really do. I think he's a good man, and a big picture guy, which I admire a lot. But for goodness sake, how can you be the President of the United States, and not be able to convincingly defend your decision to go to War in Iraq, when I can do it?

He needs to bring it, or he may find himself being the first sitting President to not be re-elected with that deal maker 50% approval rating. He may find himself the first sitting President to not be re-elected following a sizeable post labor day standing in the polls.
