"Sometimes I wonder if Bush REALLY wants to win this election "
Exactly. These provisions would be POPULAR with most Americans. They would approve of them. They would applaud them. Anybody who would not vote GOP because of them was not going to vote for them anyway, and even if there were a few like that then they'd be greatly outnumbered by those who support the provisions.
Bush's open borders zeal is easily one of his worst qualities. And Karl Rove too, since he's probably behind this.

I'm one of those "conservatives" that WILL NOT VOTE for GWB again. I've voted Republican since 1972 and except for the RR years have be screwed one way or the other. My single issue of immigration is an important one because it's not just immigration...the immigration problem effects far too many aspects including healthcare availability, business economics, culture and nation security.
You party hacks can take responsibility for our nation going down the drain. As long as the candidate has the (R) behind their name they can do no wrong. Supporting GWB or JFK is only saying "we surrender" to the political process and will accept the lesser of the two evils.
Personally, my "non-vote" this year will be the best vote for I refuse to play into their hands. Yes, you can vote for GWB but by doing so you are approving our leadership's (I use that term loosely.) methodologies and policies. If you must vote I suggest you write-in "None of the Above."
"My gift to the newbies today is to expose the people on here that say they were for Bush before they are now against him but never have been for him and love to blame Rove for everything"
My gift to the newbies today is don't fall for the party line. Nothing is going to change regardless of the party affiliation. Just remember, your vote is just that...a vote. It no longer represents your voice.

I don't need your respect - it wouldn't secure one square inch of America anyway. I want the borders of these United States secure and a President who'll listen to the will of 79% of Americans who also ask for secure borders. If President Bush happens to be the sacrificial lamb over the issue because he's hardheaded, fine.
BUMP!
Somehow, the Bush Administration needs no "permission slip" from the UN to defend America outside our border, but we apparently need a permission slip from Vincente Fox to defend ourselves inside the border.
As to "what's up with these guys," Bush the Elder's phrase, "New World Order" still resonates in my mind.
As a newbie who has backed Bush financially, spiritually and at the risk of losing friends, if I am put off by this, think what those lukewarmers must feel like today.
But yes, I will still vote Republican, unhappily, when the alternative is considered.
He is on the side of the Council of the Americas and the FTAA. For the FTAA to be ratified by Mexico, the US has to accept all their 'migrant' workers, make it less expensive to send their remittances out of country, give them social security, give them protected class status so you can't say anything negative about them.
Its all there in the FTAA, the Summit of the Americas, and the State department sponsored conference on 'migrants' in the western hemisphere.

This is the one issue that ticks me off for him not supporting it, makes me steaming mad. There is a huge problem with illegals.
Sigh...better to vote for someone you agree with 90% than someone else 10%.
He still has my vote but if I were ever able to give him an earful on the illegal alien issue I would do it.
Your "non-vote" is a whistle in the wind.
May God bless America inspite of ourselves!
"Illegal immigrants" are nothing more than an esoteric political concept for Dubya. He and his family and their friends will never daily have to slog through the consequences of unfettered illegal immigration. While the American middle class is being forced to finance their own political and economic demise, he just cruises past all the damage in his motorcade, waving at the clowns who think he's some sort of savior.
His stance on this really makes me sick.
What's a true conservative to do? *sigh*
This is where Bush falls flat on his ass......
