Victor Davis Hanson: The Friday Night Fight: “I Have A Plan” – on and on and on…
VDH Private Papers ^ | October 9, 2004 | Victor Davis Hanson

John Kerry proved tonight that he is a steady, glib, and adept debater who offers a fare of wonkish, comprehensive answers ad nauseam that can awe an off-guard opponent buried beneath facts, Clinton-like instant recall, and classical Ciceronian rhetorical skills. Indeed, we saw all that in the first debate against a dazed George Bush.

But by now Kerry is beginning to wear poorly, especially against a spirited and engaged candidate—such as George Bush revealed himself tonight as an opponent full of passion, ideals, and fight. As the night wore on Bush seemed the more human, the more real, Kerry the Boston Brahmin—smug, sanctimonious, self-righteous, and ponderous. Where Bush seemed genuine and vulnerable, Kerry appeared peeved, fussy, and smart-alecky.

I want to be President, elect me...

I have a plan, I can't tell you my plan, but it's a good plan.

Kerry appeared peeved, fussy, and smart-alecky.

I especially liked the snotty comment about being able to just look at the audience, and tell that they don't make over $200,000 per year.

You excerpted a freakin' blog entry. What is wrong with you? You excerpt more of Steyn than this entire posting. You're sick.

kerry's plan:

BORE you to DISTRACTION with his convoluted comments with NO MEANING.

My father said more than 6 months ago, the best thing kerry could do was to keep his mouth shut until he has something of value to convey. As of yet, he has had NOTHING of value to convey, just more of his flip-flopping and double talk.

Yes, that was quite irritating. Maybe he was right though, because it would have been nice to hear an "and me!" from the audience, and that didn't happen.

Kerry ended almost every one of his shotgun blasts of facts and figures with “I have a plan”—though no plan was ever detailed or discussed ...

Senator "Baldrick" Kerry

"I have a cunning plan...."

Kerry doesn't make $200,000...if his senatorial salary is only $150,000. He's getting an allowance from Mommy Dearest, but that doesn't count as 'earned income', no matter how hard crawling around on his hands and knees is. He is such a jerk, and he said so many really dumb things last night, like 'I'm a lawyer, too!' Doesn't he know lawyers are roundly despised by the hoi polloi? Oh, but I forgot. He's much too rich and important to worry about the little people. He just wants our votes, then we should shut up and sit down. "Huh! Do you know who I am!" Famous words from Fat Teddy Kennedy, repeated by Botoxboy. Plus that lame Red Sox joke that needlessly insulted Boston fans. And he looked old. He must have told Mommy Dearest to lay off the botox and orange tanning juice. I bet he's back on both by Wed.

Kerry reminds me of a snake oil salesman: slick but no substance!

Kerry's plan is to declare Iraq another "Lebanon" (code for "chaos"), but out, and blame Bush for the defeat. The fact is, "bugging-out" has always been Kerry's plan in the face of international opposition. It's the one thing he's been consistent in for the past 30 years.

One notes, Senator Kerry left his OWN wife out of the $200,000+ catagory.

John F*ckin' is a liberal and the label's like an albatross around his neck no matter how much he protests its meaningless.

From his website:
Washington, DC - Due to an accounting error, Senator John Kerry filed an amended 2003 return on April 15, 2004. Sen. Kerry paid $102,152 in federal income taxes for 2003 on adjusted gross income of $395,338.

He had a gain of $175,000 on the sale of a painting that he had an interest in. The reason for the amended return is he used the wrong tax rate on the capital gains.

He just barely qualifies for his own tax increase.

Reviewing his regular 2003 return, of note are the following:
$9,025 Dental Expense
$7,620 State and local Income taxes
$761 Property Taxes (Not a typo)
$3,326 Interest paid on mortgage(commesuarate with prop. tax???)
$43,735 gifts to charity
$610 Union and Professional Dues
$3,000 in Business Expense
$11,141 Trust and Dividend Income
$89,220 Income from Rental property royalties

That's OK - he dissed the Yankees today.

I know a hard left guy (he wears the "No W" ballcap and thinks Michael Moore is a genius) who is a fanatical, passionate Yankees fan. Subscribes to the Yankees Network out here in the Bau Area. I wonder which way he'll break now.

Game for next debate is ;
1 drink everytime Kerry says PLAN
2 drinks everytime he says Vietnam.
3 drinks everytime he licks his lips or sticks out his tongue.

Be ready to take off work the next day .

I did a word search on the transcript of the debate and I counted 19 times where Kerry said "I have a plan" or "my plan".

I did not count the times where he was referring to Bush's plan or lack of a plan.
