After six years, friends of missing Brea boy reveal his death

BREA, Calif. - Six years after a teenager's disappearance, five of his high school friends have come forward to say he was murdered and dismembered by a Satanist and gang member who scared them into keeping silent. Robert Anthony Marquez, 26, of Rowland Heights, was charged this week with first-degree murder in the death of Bryan Thorne after friends abandoned a story they had parroted since the night of the 16-year-old's disappearance: that they had last seen Thorne when he was dropped off near his home in Brea.

One of the friends finally went to police because he was fearful of Marquez's scheduled December release from prison, where he was serving a sentence on an unrelated extortion conviction.

Eventually all five of the witnesses gave police the same account of Thorne's death.

Thorne's mother said she didn't blame her son's friends for staying silent so long.

"Had I been put in a situation where I felt my life was in danger, I may have done the same thing," Debbie Thorne told the Orange County Register.

Marquez is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at the Pomona courthouse.

Police interviewed him at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison, where he "admitted his involvement in the death of Bryan Thorne," said Sgt. Richard Garcia of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Police didn't disclose the suspected motive of Marquez, a former running back and linebacker at Walnut High School whose prison cell is decorated with pictures of dismembered sheep and chickens. He has demon-themed tattoos covering his muscular, 5-foot-8, 240-pound body, Garcia said.

Teachers said Marquez struggled in school and was aggressive but nonviolent. Authorities said he was a self-proclaimed member of the Mexican Mafia who had a robbery conviction as a juvenile.

Why did they let him keep that sort of trash in his cell?

No. Letting a murderer go unpunished is never acceptable no matter what the personal danger. By not having come forward earlier, the prosecution case will likely be more difficult to make, and a murderer could go free.

Do you have any clue what the words "FREE" or "REPUBLIC" mean? Ignore this forum. This is basic understanding of the English language. I would think as a PURE AMERICAN you must know these basic concepts?

Oh, look. Member since Sep 9, 2004. Can anyone say "trolling for negative quotes?"

Begone, spawn of Satan. Go back to DU. You'll be lauded there for your wit and wisdom.

Take his "... his muscular, 5-foot-8, 240-pound body..." and strap it into a solid, oak chair with electrodes...

Yoy know, If I were this murdered kid's Dad, I would be sure happy to know what had happened. This monster would be room temperature just as soon as I could to where he is.

Some of us out here are getting very impatient of all the do-gooding and molly-coddeling going on in this country.

Marquez would be a high draft pick for the Islamofascist mullahs which regularily visit the prisons looking for terrorist recruits.

While "La Eme" is now on both sides of the border, it is a product of the penal system-our penal system.

Brings to mind that teenage boy separated from his friends, that was kidnapped in some Mexican city, escaped, only to be recaptured, tortured for days, and scraficed to Satan in the worst way.

Very true.......anyway, it looks like this scumbag has been in jail for the last few years, so it would be hard for him to carry out any threats.

"Marquez was later sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison for threatening two brothers when they went to Marquez's home for a 1998 Memorial Day barbecue, nearly five months after Thorne's disappearance."

How sad for the family to wait this long for the truth.

I should think you'd be a little more careful about calling people you don't know "spawn of satan". Just because somebody is a newbie doesn't necessarily mean they are trolling.

You are right. But this is a bunch of kids. My guess is, they thought, well, he's in jail, right? And seven years seems forever when you are young. But as the time approached when they realized he was getting out, a little common sense kicked in.
