Navy Stripped Kerry Of Security Clearance!!!!!! Unauthorized Contacts With Enemy Agents!

Kerry Lost Security Clearance!

Just spoke with reporter friend in DC. She is talking with former USN ONI types who worked on DOD/USN investigation that resulted in total loss of Kerry’s Navy security clearance.

Kerry had been granted a Top Secret by the Navy on October 11, 1967 based on a routine background investigation by Office of Naval Intelligence. A top secret clearance was required for his work at that time.

Obtaining and holding a security clearance of any level, especially TS or above, requires certain terms, obligations, commitments and conditions from the holder. One of the most important is the holder of the clearance must promptly and fully any contacts with any foreign officials, agents, etc.

Lieutenant Kerry left active duty with the Navy on January 3, 1970, but he still carried those obligations as a commissioned officer of the Naval Reserve. Without telling anyone and without receiving permission from superiors,FBI or counter-intelligence officers, he traveled to Paris in the summer of 1970. He claimed the purpose of his trip was a honeymoon with his first wife, Julia Thorne, but there was another hidden purpose.

Numerous North Vietnamese and Viet Cong intelligence agents and officials were in Paris, having arrived a year earlier for the “Peace Talks.” While in Paris, Kerry met with agents on a number of occasions and had extensive discussions with them about U.S. plans, procedures and how to get the U.S. to essentially surrender in Vietnam.

These clandestine meetings were never reported to the Navy.

Almost a year later, in April 1091, speaking as the leader of the Vietnam Veterans Against The War, Lieutenant Kerry told a Senate hearing about his meetings with enemy agents. Senior DOD officials wanted to prosecute him as a Naval Reserve officer for violating a number of laws and regulations, but this was vetoed by the Nixon White House. They didn’t want to give the anti-war crowd any additional PR ammunition.

However, the Navy immediately pulled Kerry’s security clearance. He became a Naval Reserve officer who was known not to be trusted. He kept his commission, but lost all access to any classified information. In the words of one of the now-retired agents, “Lieutenant Kerry wasn’t cleared to know what time it was!”

The bottom line is, Kerry was on the Intelligence Committee of the Senate after the Paris fiasco and another trip to support the Moscow-backed Sandinistas in Nicaragua.

Today, he couldn’t get a security clearance to pull KP duty, but he wants to be Commander in Chief of all our military in the War on Terrorism!

Back then, and presumably now, every officer had a background check and a security clearance. It was either Secret, or Top Secret. I've forgotten. Very routine. Even I had such a clearance. (Never needed it.) But for any particular bit of info, you still had to have a need to know in order to see it.

Thanks for the explanation.

Need independent confirmation of this. I've heard rumors of it before, but never got enough confirmation to do anything with. If true, THIS is a grenade in the Kerry tent.

If this report is true and based on actual fact, regarding Kerry's need for clearance if he were President, my question is whether a formal clearance is necessary or required when one is holding the most powerful position in the United States. Is that clearance not given automatically? I don't know. Does anyone out there have the facts?

This is quite possibly the dumbest argument I've ever had on FR.

Do you remember any bold headlines in the Newspapers and on TV in 1992 or in 2000 between the vote of the Electoral College and the Inaguration saying "Clinton Receives Top Secret Clearance, Can Serve as President" or "Bush Passes Security Check, Inauguration Plans Go Forward."?

How exactly do you visualize the process of someone being elected President and then not having access to any classified material? Or being prevented from being "President" by failing a background check?

Being elected President has little in common with being hired to shuffle papers on a desk at the CIA as an analyst.

Sorry. The way it goes is anyone elected by the people has full access to all classified material.

Otherwise the Presidents wouldn't be selected by a vote of the people and the Electoral College; Presidents would be selected by a small group of mid-level CIA and FBI bureaucrats.

Yep, I'd say we've found a deep-cover troll.

this illegal war

Just a little nuance: legality resides in various international treaties not in the halls of the UN. It was legal but even though it was poorly executed it was ultimately successful.

Most of the PDB are classified TS or above. If he can't get those briefings.

More importantly if he had his clearance yanked, how did he get an honorable discharge?

There are questions as to whether he did or not back in the 70's when he was discharged from the Navy

The only way to find out for sure is for Kerry to sign the 180 form

He REFUSES to do so

And the mainstream media hasn't even gotten to the Winter Soldier senatorial assassination meetings of 1971 in Kansas City yet..

You mean his contacts helped bring about more pain and suffering for our soldiers who were prisoners of war.

One question... why would a garden variety lieutenant on a swift boat have a top secret clearance? Is that standard? If so, it would seem there are entirely too many people with top secret clearances i.e. access to the most important secrets of the country.

"I personally commend Senator Kerry for standing up against the US government and the atrocities it soldiers committed in Vietnam. His contacts with the North Vietnamese helped bring this illegal war to a speedy end."

You've got to be kidding, right??? What he did and said jeopardized our soldiers and our POW's...just like he is doing now...he did all of this for his own glory and could care less about the soldiers....that is why he is unfit to command!

I did not know that. I assumed since even *I* had a clearance, someone like the Pres would need one too. Since you have to have one, or the ability to get clearance to work in any classified area of the DOD or DOJ. This is nuts.

Thought experiment.

Bill Clinton in 1999 makes sure a bunch of his buddies are hired to be on the clearance committee or whatever in the CIA or FBI.

Supreme Court rules on the recount, Electoral College votes...

But then the clearance committee of midlevel bureaucrat partisan hacks says..."Wait a minute. Can't give W a clearance because of that drunk driving conviction...Gore is President.

Being President is a hell of a lot different from whatever jobs you had.

They could have pics of Kerry dressed in an NVA uniform, holding his AK 47 drinking a toast with Ho Chi Minh, and Mao, with captured Americans as the furniture, and the press would want to know where Bush was THAT WEEK and did he have the records to prove it.

I personally commend Senator Kerry for standing up against the US government and the atrocities it soldiers committed in Vietnam.

Which atrocities are those? You mean the ones debunked in the book Stolen Valor?

Sleeper cell alert.
