I'm sure I've only scratched the surface of the Hagel connection here--I have a hunch about how he fits into things but I didn't have time to explore it fully before the election, so I left the article where I did. There have been a few FR threads on him:

Another place to look for more information on where his vested interests lie is opensecrets.org:

" Mlle Jacquie " was his second wife. Valerie his third. So I've read...could there be more? :)

Valerie was his third wife. Jacqueline is the one he glosses over in his book. He mentions his break-up with his first wife, Susan, on p. 63. He introduces Valerie on p. 240 and marries her on p. 273. In between he makes a brief mention of Jacqueline on pp. 68-69 but leaves out key details (such as her name!):

Congo proved to be far more interesting than I expected. I had recently remarried--my new wife was a Frenchwoman who had been raised in Africa and had returned there to work with the French Ministry of Cooperation, the equivalent of our USAID.

His "new wife" is mentioned again briefly on 116 and 176 while Wilson is describing his experience in Iraq during the Gulf War. On 176 he mentions their marriage had always been shaky and was under increased stress after the Gulf War, when he was in Baghdad alone after she had been evacuated. Apart from that I can't find any other references to her.

I was unaware of Susan.

Was she MI6, perchance?

The author could have mentioned that Abdurahman Alamoudi was Executive Director of the American Muslim Foundation (AMF). He began his career with the SAAR foundation (under investigation) of Herndon, Virginia and left in 1990 to found the AMF. He was also the Vice President of Taibah International Aid, whose founder was Abdullah Bin Laden, Osama's nephew. The Alamoudi family has been in bed with Islamists for years. Wheels in wheels.

Fedora, you have done yeoman's work here. I am downloading it in case Kerry gets in. Kerry's remark in the Blumenfield interview (WAPO June 3, 2003) that he wished there was a delete button on Lexis Nexis is not easily dismissed.

Kerry's aide bullying Sinclair network to prevent showing of "Stolen Honor" said, "They (Sinclair) better hope Kerry does not get in." does not augur well for any news source not approved by the Kerry administration.

Thanks for your hard work. b.

On p. 33, he mentions that Susan's maiden name was Susan Otchis, she was from the San Fernando Valley area, and her family was Jewish. On 62-63 he mentions they split up around early 1985 while he was stationed in Burundi (which is where he had met Jacqueline, whom he married in July 1986). That's about all the background he gives on her in his book. A Los Angeles Times article from August 24, 1990, mentions she was living in the Los Angeles area at that time:

"Joe was used to the slower pace of small countries in Africa," said a friend who visited Wilson and his French-born wife, Jackie, in Iraq. . .Born in Connecticut, Wilson spent most of his teen-age years abroad. His father was a journalist overseas, mostly in Paris, where the younger Wilson learned the language and developed a love of everything French. According to Bryant, Wilson began calling California home after receiving a bachelor's degree in history from UC Santa Barbara. His two children by a previous marriage live in the Los Angeles area, and his mother in Palm Springs.

Yep!--thanks for bringing that up. I didn't elaborate on that for the sake of keeping the length down, but that's what I was alluding to here:

Abdurahman Alamoudi, a prominent American Muslim lobbyist

Also, in relation to Abdullah bin Laden, Mohammed Alamoudi sat with a "Shafig Mohammed bin Laden" on the board of Worldwide News, Inc. 1510 H St., N.W., Washington, DC 2005.

Thanks!--had a lot of help from my fellow FReepers.

I hadn't heard Kerry's remark on Lexis-Nexis, but that does seem to be their M.O. The Alamoudis have also managed to repress some articles about them.

She was Mossad, then...

I looked in your catalog of information on Wilson, I may have missed the article but, did you read the Commentary about Wilson from The Washington Times in July of this year about 'YELLOW CAKE'?

LOL! I don't know if she was or not, but it seems like he had a thing for girlfriends in the spy business.
